Dusty Baker has a top 3 player in the NL batting 6th.

We should really thank Dusty for hitting Werth second. What an asshat.

67.2% of our losses have come from blowing leads according to the Nats broadcast. Most in the majors by a lot.

Davies has been been great the second half of the season and his ERA is now down to 3.85.

Besides his bad start vs the Twins, since mid-July covering nine other starts and 54 innings, he only allowed six total earned runs.

Davies recently had 5 consecutive road starts without an ER. Only other pitchers to do that ever? Roger Clemens and Walter Johnson. :o I forget where I read that; was it here?

My general impression is that Swarzak has been a bit of a disappointment, but then you look at his numbers and they're great. Just under 1 hit per inning, more than 1.5 k's per inning, WHIP 1.2, e.r.a. just over 3. And other than one run against the Pirates, he's only given up runs against some pretty good offenses (Cubs, Nats, Cards, @ Coors).

Garza pulled from his next start! Announcement came after the game. I assume Suter will start. Jungmann went 6 innings last night so he's out. Guerra did 4.1 the night before so I suppose he could get a few innings. Blazek is rested but he'd probably be worse than Garza.

I'm good with Garza getting pulled but it's all pretty much the same to me. Suter, Guerra, Garza are all the same (with Guerra's velocity maybe never returning. Otherwise he'd probably be good). Jungmann is probably a worse option.

Yeah, there isn't much to get excited about there. I know it weakens the pen, but would be intrigued moving Hader to the rotation since that is where he is projected to be I believe. But I guess they don't want to mess with what is working with him and will bank on Suter filling the role. Is Guerra near a return?

Definitely not much to be excited about but I'd personally rather chance Suter finding some of his first half magic or Guerra finding last year's magic than have to watch Matt Garza pitch another inning for my favorite baseball team. But as reported, Counsell is going to get creative with that 5th spot in the rotation for the rest of the year. Fine by me. Still pretty happy to see Garza get scratched from Sunday's start.

Guerra's velocity is still down so he won't.

Suter's "magic" is probably more "luck" mixed with the league not having the book on him yet. He's basically the same pitcher as Garza right now and could be worse. 3rd time around the order is a disaster.

All of that said, I'm fine with it. Suter can pitch 4 innings and there's a chance that it's better than Garza.

With Woodruff, Williams, and Suter all due as call-ups I think we'll be just fine. Houser is the only pitcher currently on the 40 that I dont think gets September call. I bet we see Lopez at some point up too.

What is Lopez's story? I feel like he was a Top 5 prospect a few seasons ago and on the cusp of the big league team, but has kind of fallen out of favor. Just Colorado Springs? Or something deeper? Or am I way off on him falling off? I only follow minor league rankings, not necessarily their production.

I'm sure they'll be fine too. Just wondering who is going to pitch Sunday. Suter pitched 3 innings Wednesday so it could be him, and that would be fine. The Nats have never seen him before, and he's probably earned the right to start more than any other option.

If possible, I think I'd rather have a rhp against that lineup with Harper out though. Especially if it means they play Lind in the outfield, which is another one of Dusty Baker's sick jokes. Maybe Blazek should get the nod. Have the Nats ever seen him before? I can't quite remember...

I bet everyone here wishes they couldn't remember if Blazek has pitched against the Nats.

Adversity and not throwing strikes. CS killed his confidence and he has the off the field stuff that weighs heavy on him. His biggest issue is and has always been command. He had a monster breakout year and was in the top 100 at one point but if you cant throw strikes youre really not going to be considered a viable prospect. I dont even have him in my top 50.

IM going to guess once PCL playoffs are over we see Yadiel Rivera, Brooks, Jungmann, and Webb.
