Anyway it'll be super interesting to compare D'Antoni (COTY and pretty much the godfather of offense) and Brett Brown this season, how much do they stagger their playmaker minutes, how do they use them when they're both on the court?

Think it's a real evaluation year for Brown.

The Sixers have a pretty obvious starting 5 to me though.

Convington plays the 4 on offense and guards the 3.

Redick plays the 3 on offense and guards the 2.

Embiid plays the 5 on offense and defense.

Fultz plays the 2 on offense and guards the 1.

Simmons plays the 1 on offense and guards the 4.

That is the starting roster of a playoff team.

Even simpler than this perhaps:

On Offense:
Simmons: Primary facilitator
Covington and Redick: WIng Players
Fultz: Wing and Secondary Facilitator
Embiid: Center

Traditional positions just don't apply to this starting lineup.

Defense:
Covington, Fultz and Redick Wing defenders, with Covington covering the best offensive player, Fultz, then Redick the weakest.
Simmons guards the opposing PF
Embiid protects the paint

Point guard will be shared like between CP3 and Harden, put that in your brain.

Anyway if you don't let Fultz play PG it didn't make sense to trade for him. He won't be happy and his value will be minimized for future trades like Harden.

Hell I'm willing to take the bet that the offense will be better with Fultz at PG than Ben, at least when Embiid sits out a game (since he's pretty much a cheat code). The gravity of a guy who can pull up for 3 is just way different. Markelle will create space for everyone while Ben like Rondo will reduces everyones space.

Fultz may have played PG his entire life but he seems more suited to play as a combo guard. Kyrie played as a PG his entire life but he's more of a combo guard and loves to look for his shot more than pass. Fultz seems to be more pass oriented than Kyrie but they both love to shoot and want their shots. I think Simmons will be the better PG because he loves to pass and get others involved. I think Fultz fits with Simmons well on offense. Simmons needs the ball in his hands to maximize his ability moreso than Fultz needs the ball in his hands.

If Ben runs the point it will be better for Embiid, Covington, and Redick than if Fultz runs the point because Fultz is a score first player.

I think that it is better for Fultz to play off the ball for his own success as well. However, I think he will have plenty of opportunity to initiate his own offense, especially late in the game.

The way some people talk about players playing positions as if they do the same thing every time like this is football or baseball is super weird.

FWIW, Celts and Cavs should have trouble switching off the Fultz-BS PnR.if they don't switch, we've got multiple good shooters like Biid, Reddick and RoCo.

Couldn't agree more. The additions of Redick and Fultz to Embiid/Simmons is just so perfect for our pick and roll offense. We match up crazy well with the Celtics. We play the Celtics 3 times in October, so we'll get a good glimpse of whats to come.

Even with just Jah and w/o Fultz/Biid/BS before, it always seem that we can match-up with them.

I haven't seen the Celts play with their new addition, they look more exciting but they dont scare me. For one, I don't think they have anyone who can defend Jah, much more with Biid. I also think Fultz can guard Kyrie better than IT, IT seems to have a big edge on quickness than Fultz altho I would love to see Fultz blocking his shots.

Nonetheless, it will be a fun match-up with is a win-win for the fans of both teams

Both teams are very different from last year, it should be interesting which team's chemistry works best.

Fultz/Bayless................Kyrie/Rozier........Kyrie + Fultz exciting scoring PGs
Redick/TLC/Stauskus.......Smart/Jaylen......Redick's experience + shooting
Covington/JA................Hayward/Tatum....Hayward's playmaking against Covington's defense
Simmons/Saric...............Morris................Simmons' rebounding + passing
Embiid/Okafor................Horford/Baynes....Embiid + Okafor's scoring, Embiid's defense, Horford's floor spacing

Embiid's impact should be the difference. Boston will struggle to defend the Sixers' bigs. If Fultz + Covington can defend the perimeter well, Boston could have difficulty scoring.

Love love love how the rivalry between the Celtics and Sixers has reunited. Cannot wait to hear all the Celtics fans panic when the Sixers beat them in October. It's going to be glorious.

Fingers crossed we get Boston in the playoffs. That is going to be incredibly entertaining to watch.

Many teams have improved. Sixers, Minnesota, Houston, Boston, OKC, and others. A lot of exciting games.

Has there been a more exciting off season in another professional sport other than the 2017 NBA off season? It's been incredible. That Boston vs Sixers home opener game is my number one must watch game of the year. The real trick will be Brett Brown getting some form of chemistry early between Simmons, Embiid and Fultz. BB needs to create clear roles for this team early. I'm pretty confident that Simmons and Fultz recognize that Embiid is the alpha. The toughest part will be communicating and sharing ball handling duties between Simmons and Fultz. I think and hope Fultz has the awareness to play off ball this year. I can see Simmons having difficulty or speaking to the press about not having the ball in his hands enough. It's all going to be incredibly fun to watch.

The original Decision by LeBron was more exciting IMO.

You could even make a case last year when Durant left OKC

Meh I see your point but respectfully disagree. Point is- the NBA offseason is becoming entertainment in itself (draft, summer league, free agency, etc).

It's like a chess game. Still some moves to be made.

Boston needs a rim protector?
Which young team improves the most?

NBA offseason has some very entertaining topics to discuss, many different opinions.

The debate going a few pages ago is legit. The biggest knock on fultz is his inability to get to the basket.

He was a relatively non impact defender as well but I think that will develop in time. His size, steal, and block rate portends success on that end, but Washington wasn't worse defensively when he was out.

But on offense he's more than likely just a shooter, which should be fine given Simmons penchant for playmaking.

Fultz's 6'10 wingspan should help him become a good defender. Perimeter defense was one of the Sixers main weaknesses, last year.

Fultz is more than a shooter, his hesitation moves are perfect for getting shooting space. He should be a great option for game winning shots!
