It isn't the same thing.. you are talking about drafting a player and player potential an acl injury before stepping foot in the NBA could be concerning. The second situation is trading a player with a no trade clause and diminishing for something of value... which clearly hasn't gone well not hypocritical its a different situation..

Please tell me again how it is not hypocritical to want Jabari when there are other healthy options and not want Dennis Smith for exactly that reason. You and I both don't know how Jabari is going to come back from a 2nd acl tear on the same knee so don't give me that he's established his value already over DSJ crap. Fact of the matter is this board had a war on Frank vs. DSJ in the draft thread and the light is showing on some dudes who used DSJ's knee injury against him to prop up Frank while wanting Jabari and his bum knee to come here. I agree Jabari is probably the best name to come out of these talks so far but people were saying they wouldn't draft DSJ because of his knee and now want a guy who tore up the same knee twice? Doesn't add up to me. I would do the deal because we can afford the risk of hoping Jabari gets back to like 85% of what he was and stays healthy. Also based on the market for Melo he's probably the best we could do prospect-wise even when taking his injury into account. A lot of people didn't want DSJ because of injury concern. That's a fact. You can't be concerned about DSJ's knee injury to the point of not wanting him and say you want Jabari in the same breath. That's hypocritical.

You're comparing selecting a player at 8 to what you would take for Melo. It's not the same thing or hypocritical

Basically based on what I'm reading, from our standpoint, we're going to have to find a team that has at the most a 2 year deal that can offset Melo's. It seems clear we're not taking additional salary just to move Melo (which makes sense even if some clowns here are trying to warp it not to make sense).

OKC was interesting because, in theory, they could give us Kanter who we'd be stuck with for, at most, this year and next. So basically you'd be replacing Melo with Kanter (whom we could probably buy out after this year) and some young guys like maybe Abrines and Ferguson.

Again I'm not sweating a Melo trade because the best name we ever heard getting thrown around was Moe Harkless... Moe Harkless isn't making or breaking a rebuild. If we have to ride out with Melo for 1 more year so be it. We've been in worse positions before this. No point in making a bad situation worse by taking on a Ryan Anderson or a Meyers Leonard just to rid ourselves of an older productive player.

We should hope we get prospects like Ferguson & Abrines who could grow next to Frank KP WHG.

Even if it isn't Melo, I'd gladly take back Kanter and send them any or all of Lee KOQ LFT if they included those guys. Shorter contracts plus a few prospects? Where do I sign? If they throw in that CHI 2nd even better.

It feels like we're going to keep those guys though.

thats my main reason for not wanting dsj, i feel the same about jabari. Pass. Hard dunkers with serious injury history scares me. Especially injuries like that at a young age..its always concerning.

Yeah, imo it doesn't even look like the Knicks are even involved. They seem to be more of the "you want him Morey, bring back a deal we like". Morey brings back **** package and Knicks are like "nah, try again".

That's what I mean by us having to reject crap deals.

That's what I tell him every time he comes at us with a crap deal if I'm Perry, strictly because its Morey.

I do love that were holding the line, and like you said, he is doing the heavy lifting , which is a beautiful thing.

But him coming to us with crap deals is kinda wasting our time. He's keeping Melo's hopes up, with no possibility of fruition. It seems like as soon as Melo moves on from Houston, or at least starts leveraging other teams against them, things may start to happen.
