I loved Fred Taylor. I remember playing fantasy football long ago I told a new player who drafted James Stewart that he should pick up Fred Taylor as a handcuff. He won the league because of that advice. I think Taylor may have been a rookie and had a monster breakout season.

Kam Chancellor is also a blast to watch. Some of his hits are so violent & at times jaw dropping.

Did you ever watch Curt Warner?

I was 9 years old when he got drafted in 2001, and watching him do his thing is what really got me into the NFL.

Donovan McNabb also used to scramble a lot in his early days but he stopped running as much as he got older and tried to be more of a pocket passer

Did you watch some of his plays in the Virginia Tech national championship game? I remember thinking "damn, this guy is gonna be exciting in the NFL."

No. I'm only 30. So, I really didn't get into the sport until the mid to late 90's. Which was likely a good thing, because the team was dreadful pretty much throughout that decade (90's).

I honestly thought Vick would wind up being the best QB in the league. The madden cover was just the start of his downfall.

They were decent in 86-88, and only missed the playoffs in 86 on a tie breaker. In 87 lost a close playoff game and in 88 lost a fairly close playoff game to the Bengals who nearly beat the Niners in the Super Bowl.

They were pretty exciting with Krieg, Warner and Largent.

Oh I know. Some good teams. But, that all changed when Ken Behring bought the team ('88/'89). He was a **** owner. Tried to move the team (Basically our version of Dean Spanos ). Thankfully, the league prevented him from doing so & Paul Allen came calling!

I remember watching some of it, Peter Warrick absolutely killed the Hokies.I watched some of his youtube highlights not too long ago and it really made me wonder how he didnt do more in the NFL. I know he wasnt a model citizen or anything, but he should have been better than he turned out to be.

I mean, some of these cuts are just ridiculous

In all seriousness here, I do have Staubach in my top 3. We have so many greats from our past its hard to just pick 2. Just behind Staubach I also loved Randy White and Tony Dorsett. As far as now, I really don't have one to be honest. We haven't done **** for 21 years, but if I had to choose one, it would be either Sean Lee or Cole Beasley.

I'm surprised you've remained a Cowboys fan. Being a frontrunner and all, I would have assumed with nothing happening after 95, and then the Pats starting to win in 2001 you would have become a Pats fan and all, living in Boston.

Actually I live in Maine bwgood. However I do live in New England and Red Sox nation. I'm not a fair weather fan. I always stick with my childhood teams no matter what. Huh, we haven't been a front runner for 21 years. Hopefully that will change in the next two year. roll:
P.S. It could be worse. I could be a Browns, Chargers or Jets fan.

Those four teams under your username were not the best teams when you were younger? They coincidentally are pretty much the most storied teams of each sport....though StL does trail the Yankees in World Series victories.

My first two idols growing up were John Havlicek and Roger Staubach. That's were that started. I was about 10 years old at the time. An originally being from Northern Maine, we didn't get cable till the mid 70's. all we had at that time was a Canadian station and a CBS affiliate. Back then CBS had the NFC with my favorite commentators of Pat Summeral and Tom Brookshire. (I bet Otis remembers those guys to, ). So Every week it was the Giants and the double header was always the Cowboys due to their ratings which were always through the roof. I hated the Giants anyway and even when we did get cable in the mid 70's, it was too late. The damage was done and I got sucked in to America's team which stuck for life. How could any NFL fan not like going to 5 Super Bowls in an 8 year span with their favorite team? Becoming a Cardinal fan, all I will say to that is Bob Gibson.

All time: Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, Marshall Faulk - Bruce was a Ram the longest; Marshall had the best peak; Torry still has a few NFL records somehow. Ironically though I think my favorite player during those days was Az Hakim. He was crazy fun to watch.

Current: Gurley. I think he will bounce back this year.

Now? Joe Flacco with CJ Mosley making some headway up the list. Dennis Pitta too, except he's pretty much dead. Justin Tucker.
All time Ravens? Ray and Jamal Lewis, Ed Reed, Chris McAlister. I also have a soft spot for a lot of crappy guys that have been with them over the years such as Trash Talker Frank Walker or Zeus Brown who has been flagged on every single important play of his career.
All time all time? Warren Moon, Chris Dishman, Bubba McDowell, Earl Campbell, Erik Dickerson. Reminding Steeler fans of Bubby Brister has made me like him more than I should.
