Commentary on Baez

Post#1041 » by Ranma » Wed Sep 6, 2017 5:26 am

The D-back broadcast goes on to say that if something were to happen for the Diamondbacks, it will be with Baez pitching. He proceeds to walk the first batter in the 10th inning.

Baez Not Entirely to Blame

Post#1042 » by Ranma » Wed Sep 6, 2017 5:39 am

The D-back announcer called Baez the "human rain delay". In any case, after walking the first 2 batters he faced, Baez got a groundball out at 1B, then proceeded to induce a grounder to 3B, which Turner fielded cleanly and threw a strike to Grandal, who totally missed the ball, which allowed 2 runs to score. Error charged to Grandal. Dodgers down 3-1 in the 10th inning with only 1 out and a runner at 2B.

Watson comes in to relieve Baez and quickly gets a groundout but the runner advances to 3B. Watson then closes out the inning with a weak dribbler to 2B that just beat the runner to 1B.

Now this error is gonna give Baez more chances to prove himself than he'd normally have.

Sure Sign of Surrender?

Post#1045 » by Ranma » Wed Sep 6, 2017 5:55 am

Per the Diamondbacks' telecast, the D-backs are 10 - 8 against the Dodgers this season and have clinched the series win against us for the first time in 4 seasons.

Not like it was a surprise, but they were right. Arizona scored with Baez on the mound. He's practically the human white flag.

A walk off in SD.
4 ER in what was a 2-0 deficit yesterday.
2 R (unearned) in tonight's game but setup by his bull walks.

Am I missing anything else from this turd's contribution to our recent struggles?

I'm not giving up the Baez issue until he's either gone or the Dirt Bags get close enough to where I have to focus my priority on the whole.

Get this idiot off my **** team. I've asked for it since the final out of last year's NLCS. I don't need to #WaitAndSee more.

Why wasn't Curtis Granderson bunting CT3 over in the bottom of the 9th btw?

It's not like he's hitting worth a damn (who saw that coming?).

CT3 isn't excused for his gaff but wth.

Undeserving of Benefit of the Doubt

I think I'm about convinced to your point of view, Quake. Like I said before, he's basically Chris Hatcher now.

Doc just said the stuff gives him confidence in terms if velocity and the sliders have good depth.

To Doc's credit, he did just say he tried to stay away from him but the game went into extras and Morrow has a little back injury.

It's still no less scary. I don't want Doc seeing him as an available option when he calls down to the pen. These scenarios happen. I want to move on from this loser.

Alright. I'll breathe and relax.
I do wanna know why Curtis wasnt bunting in the bottom of the 9th.

Alternative Roster Options

I felt a couple of times that the Dodgers could have used Barnes in the game whether it was as a defensive replacement for Grandal (not going to happen) or as a pinch-hitter and late-game replacement.

Then again, I'm not overly concerned in viewing these games as basically tryouts for all the new faces for postseason roster consideration. It still hurts to see us lose and basically concede the regular season win record, but I'll be fine with everything if it benefits us for our World Series run.

Like you, I'm actually afraid of Baez getting consideration as a bullpen option in the playoffs. It's probably too much to expect him not to make the postseason roster, but I dread the thought of Roberts going to Baez in a high-leverage situation in October. Seriously, Maeda, Ryu, Font, Buehler, or practically anyone else would inspire more confidence in me than Baez right now.

The guy has done more to prove he shouldn't be on the postseason roster than showing that he belongs. I want to have the best players going into the playoffs and I want them playing. The fact that we're losing with question marks in the lineup and bullpen,
has me miffed but not yet panicking.

We need to get off the schneid.

I want a short leash on Maeda tonight as I believe we have Kershaw going tomorrow against Colorado.

We'll get Corey back for Colorado I believe. It'll be nice to go into that with a win and to finally trim the magic number some.

Side note:
I didn't mention it but I was miffed with Doc on the early Saturday double header in SD. We had a lead in the 7th and IMO a real chance to grab a W in the midst of a streak of playing awful. He gives Wilmer Font a 2nd inning to stick with the themes of a **** lineup and not going all out because there was a night game. Wilmer eventually gave it up in the 2nd inning when we could have had his debut be 1 IP 0 ER.

He should have put on a full court press for that win when he saw the opportunity and dialed it back for the night game.

Instead, it was the beginning of another losing streak.

I cannot wait to see him here.

I'm hoping he and Font are too young to know they're supposed to be good/ feel expectations and they wreck September and have some gutsy October outings for us.

By far my favorite draft pick of the Gasparino era.

Btw, are we ready for Joc's return or are we still loving Granderson?

Neither Joc or Curtis

Post#1056 » by Ranma » Wed Sep 6, 2017 7:42 pm

I don't really have much faith in Pederson right now, but I also didn't expect Granderson to play as much as he's been playing. I certainly expected Curtis to hit better than Joc, but he's better served as a reserve outfielder, not a regular contributor. I'd rather see either Bellinger, Taylor, or **** in CF than either of the -dersons.

I'd rather Belly play first.
Taylor in Left
****/Curtis/Joc in center
Puig/Curtis in RF

Keeps Taylor in the lineup and his glove in left....with him n Puig covering the corners, we can give a little on the quality of CF coverage.

Lets us play musical chairs at 2nd with Utley and Forsythe.

Why?
Cuz I want to go with the things that got us to a record setting pace this summer...not nostalgia and A-Gon's stupid roll over James Loney-esque grounders to 2nd.

Anywho.
I wanna see Walker tonight!!!

Another thought.

This Doc seems to have his own Jamal Crawfords that he sticks with.

Baez
Granderson

Gift and a curse tbh. I'm clearly just talking about the curse side with this post.
