Did Bulls fans and armchair GMs write-off Markkanen too soon?

I think I see the Celtics biggest vulnerability moving forward...

Horford mostly started at power forward last season, but was unleashed as a small-ball center -- to wonderful effect -- during the playoffs. Though rebounding could be an issue with Horford in the middle, his shooting, playmaking and mobility at the center position will make Boston a nightmare to defend, and the team has added perimeter size to help on the glass.

The other option will be to start a more traditional center like Aron Baynes. That would keep Horford away from some of the inside banging, but, in a lot of ways, his job's easier when he plays center. We saw it against Marcin Gortat and Robin Lopez in the playoffs -- big guys will outmuscle Horford to some rebounds, but have a damn tough time closing out to him on the perimeter.

I'd absolutely start Morris/Horford rather than Baynes/Horford. They'll suck at rebounding but they'll have too many shooters to cover.

Yeah, this sounds about right.

They should be a top offensive team with the changes made this summer. But will be mediocre defensively...and downright bad at rebounding.

They were 27th in rebounding last year.....how much worse could they get? Oh, it's because no one believed that all 6'9" 220 pounds of Amir Johnson was ever the Center over Al any more than they believed DeJuan Blair was the Center over Duncan despite being listed as such.

Why are they making it seem like Al at center is a novel concept. sigh.
I've always said Al is more effective at Center because of his reliable mid-range then added 3 point shot, he could draw opposing centers out the paint - they would be too slow to get to him and if they got there he had the ability to drive by them (which he could have done more of). His size advantage at PF is useless since he lacks the footwork for an adequate post game and isn't quick enough to take most PFs off the dribble.
PF or C -still can't rebound.

I mean how many coaches will this make that have decided he's best at center? I think 5? Only person who thinks Al is a great PF is his dad.

^And Larry Drew...which probably doesn't help his argument much.

Spoiler:
How good would he be as a power forward? "He’d be a beast," coach Larry Drew said.

Looks like a benefit, the Hawks don't have to completely bottom out to win the lottery as that's no longer highly incentivized. If the additions by the CC are approved and made retroactive that will cause a ton of butthurt in Cleveland/Boston/Philly though, no more consecutive top 3 picks.
