Belinelli brought the same primary asset to each of those teams: his ability to shoot the basketball. He is a career .377 shooter from behind the 3-point line and his 853 career 3-point field goals rank him ahead of other veteran NBA shooters such as Danny Green, Aron Afflalo and Monta Ellis.

In Belinelli, Coach Budenholzer has a reliable, “known quantity” player whom he can rely on to play his system on both ends of the floor and will bring leadership both on and off the court.

With just one year remaining on his three-year/$19 million contract, Belinelli could be a valuable trade asset as the NBA season progresses towards the trade deadline.

Didn't the hawks get a new beat writer? Why is C-Viv still reporting on the Hawks?

Somebody else mentioned this a while back but I can't find it. Anyway, I'm starting to think Jabari Parker is a guy we'll target this coming offseason. Just a random feeling in my gut. No, it's not just gas this time, @spud2.

Sure, bring Speedy in as a player development coach too and we're set.

Fixed. Is that not an offensive word here? Totally NSFW.

I think we're going to target somebody like that. But yeah, his injuries give me a heavy level of pause.

Speaking of paws, am I the only one who thinks the APD shouldn'tve killed that tiger just to save somebody's crappy rat-mutt? I 'on't know, seems like the world needs tigers more than crap-a** dogs. :-?

It was sad but it wasn't really the dog they were worried about. Someone steps out of their house to get the paper and it could be over for them. Seems like there out to be at least one tranq gun on the force somewhere though. I guess there are so many computers in a squad car now there's no room for other things.

A couple of summers back, I floated the idea of a Dennis for Jabari trade. Though laughable at the time, I have to think that would be the likely starting point for negotiations.

I'd be somewhat conflicted on that trade today...

Ha, yeah. I'm half-terrified when I walk outside and see a deer (yeah, we got deer in the 'sac). Can't imagine if I walked out and literally saw a full-grown, zoo tiger staring back at me. IIUC, they were waiting on animal control who presumably had something non-lethal they could use. But when the tiger set upon benji, they had to act. I woulda let 'im have the mutt then acted if he set sights on a human ... well, certain humans. :)

I could see the trade back then since we still had Teague.
Parker will be a RFA next offseason, so no need for trade negotiations.

2. Dewayne Dedmon, Atlanta Hawks

When Dewayne Dedmon was on the bench or out of uniform during his final year with the San Antonio Spurs, the team allowed 105.4 points per 100 possessions—an impressive number, but only good enough to rankbehind the Spurs' season-long mark (103.5), the Golden State Warriors (104.0) and the Utah Jazz (105.3).

When he played, the defensive rating plummeted to 100.1, pushing San Antonio well ahead of the field.

Dedmon could work with any combination of teammates. If he played next to Kawhi Leonard, he was more content to settle in on the interior and deter opponents from entering his domain. If the Spurs threw out a weaker bunch of backcourt and wing defenders, he was comfortable icing pick-and-rolls before recovering and—if necessary—contesting shots from behind.

But he only played 17.5 minutes, thanks in large part to head coach Gregg Popovich's creative rotations and ability to glean quality play from everyone. He'll have no such limitations with the Atlanta Hawks. Plus, they use a similar defensive scheme under Mike Budenholzer, who was previously a Popovich pupil.

Ded was the only Hawks player to make the list.
Dennis should be on the list.

My dark horse for the Hawks is DeAndre Bembry (provided he gets the minutes).

Looks like Dennis and Germany will play the winner of Spain and Turkey, which takes place today. I'm guessing Germany/Spain is a forgone conclusion for Tuesday. Let's go Germany and Italy!!!
