Fine with the signing, don't like the 2nd year. Hopefully it's partially guaranteed.

Biggest benefit to this signing is not signing Sullinger. I'm relieved to not have to deal with the specter of Sullinger's past weight and conditioning issues.

Sullinger was always the "lighting in the bottle" option. I think those are the moves we should definitely be making, and earlier in the summer when the Sullinger talk started, I was all for it. I 100% bought into the idea that this guy was finally going to turn it around and put it all together.

Then that picture came out of him with DLo, and He looked like he already lost control of his weight and I was immediately brought down to earth.

There's a reason Sully wasn't brought in and I think we dodged a bullet. Maybe us passing in him will FINALLY be the wake up call he needs. Who knows?
But I'm definitely relieved we went with the safe option rather than putting our eggs in a boat that's sinking because the captain can't keep himself under 300lbs.

Happy to see agents taking an interest in the Nets. When will the Cavs start to worry?

2nd year supposedly non-guaranteed. If so it's a good depth pickup. I assume his defense won out over Sullinger.

Hopefully we can turn back to the clock a couple years to '14-15 for both Mozgov (5.7 WS) and Zeller (6.5 WS).

Mozgov ('14-15) - 25 mpg / 10 pts / 7 rebs / 59% TS
Zeller ('14-15) - 21 mpg / 10 pts / 6 rebs / 59% TS

Great, a real center, we've got too many PFs already

He's got some terrific per36 numbers.

Would have been a problem if we signed Sully and then Moz misses games.

Does have a midrange game, can run the floor, hustles, should fit in.

Good depth signing and like Choke said he hustles so he will be fine here.

We didn't need another PF anyway, RHJ, Booker, Carroll, and Acy will be perfectly fine imo and all four of them defend and can switch on all screens.

We needed some size and adding another 7 footer helps. Hopefully he can contribute soon.

Sean Marks is just going about his work in a very smart way. I like what he has managed to get done this off season and Zeller is a nice pickup especially on a 2 year 1 year guaranteed deal.

Zeller was pretty bad for the celtics but i dont think they used him well either. he didnt get alot of burn and his minutes we really inconsistent. he plays hard.

Good addition to our size department... nothing wrong with adding 7fters...

I think this guy helps. He's no star but he's just about guaranteed minutes and he had some good games for Boston when he got time.

We really needed a player like this for size. Great signing.

Another steal by Marks.

I like ths pick up a lot

True 7 footer, ability to outrun other players, good hands, pretty good rebounder, pretty good at help defense, his shooting stroke is not bad. . Hustle. Very high character

I bet Cody Zeller put in a good word

I posted this in your off-season thread but I didn't see the actual thread so I'm going to re-post it here:

I'm going to be as nice as possible describing Zeller...

2 seasons ago, he was the starting center. He actually played pretty well, showed some skills, just wasn't physical enough inside. However, the two seasons since then he's been an absolute joke; the dude misses so many layups it's ridiculous. It's not like he doesn't have skill either, he just has little to no confidence.

He is a great rim runner and showed that a lot in Boston. His mid-range is ok. Passing is alright as well. Can block a shot or two and defend the rim a bit.

But he sucks. Besides a little rim protection plays absolutely no defense. As I said, blows TONS of layups. Gets blocked at the rim routinely. Can't stretch the floor that much. Can't rebound or play physical inside; Zach Randolph had a game this year he scored about 5 straight possessions while Zeller was on him. I really wish I could say otherwise but it's the truth.

He probably won't play/cost much anyways, lets see if Kenny can get him back on the right track.

I remember he abused Brook on the boards, not that it means much

How should I feel off this pick up? I think Zeller can rebound but I don't know...
