Kershaw (who I don't think is as sharp as he has been in season's past) gets saved by an outfield assist by Chris Taylor.

Yeah, that was a great play by Belly to get the out upon video review but Taylor also came up big with a strong throw to end the 4th inning.

Justin Turner with a poor throw to first.
He makes that play as good as any 3B in the game.
Bases loaded now.

Re: 2017 REGULAR SEASON LA Dodgers & international
IMO Kershaw is not sharp.
He was less than stellar against tge Rockies and he was shakey tonight.
If Darvish is going to be a wild card or just flat out bad, Kershaw needs to bring stability to our starting pitching for October.
Im not sure if he has 2 or 3 more starts this year but they are importantvto me.

Re: 2017 REGULAR SEASON LA Dodgers & international
This is another big start for us as well.
I truly don't care how bad the Giants are. I always say in baseball, I'd rather be playing well and facing anybody than playing poorly and drawing a good opponent. We need Yu to start pitching like a quality #2 and hopefully it starts tonight.
I dunno what the lag is with him and Rick Honeycutt but he has 2 or 3 more starts and there needs to be some improvement before the postseason.
Plus a win tonight will HELP us with the mental side of things before going to Washington.

What I've Been Saying
Tonight's lineup is arguably the best we've had for the season. I want to see it employed more often with Forsythe and Grandal alternating depending on matchups and rest.

Re: 2017 REGULAR SEASON LA Dodgers & international
Like I said, let him steal reps at 2B and C. He can find his way into the lineup most days if we do that.
Grandal has a good rapport with our pitchers and IMO, is a vet that I feel more comfortable calling pitches in big games or a big situation (of course I'd rather Barnes hit in a big situation). In his Dodger career, he has matured from a selfish turd in SD to a savvy vet catcher who has helped steer our franchise through 15 SPs in 2015 and 16 in 2016.
This is just going to turn into Grandal v. Barnes when it doesn't have to. It doesn't have to because Barnes can play 2B and still get reps at C. But it's going to because Doc'll never turn on Forsythe and he'll never go into a foxhole without Utley.

Cue every bit of doubt and every inkling we have that says we can't beat this with that hit.

so, how do you guys rate our playoff rotation to be?
Kershaw and Wood are locks.
Yu has been a disappointment for me, but he is making up tonight in SF.
Maeda to me, is done. he doesn't deserve to be in the playoff rotation.
Hill is a strong candidate, but has been wildly polarizing in terms of his ups and downs.
Ryu is streaking upward for me, that he has shown ability to pitch himself out of jam and currently sports the lowest ERA among the 4th starter candidates, and doing it while giving up more than .400 BABIP. Hill is under .250 and Maeda is around .280 BABIP each. what that tells me is that Ryu has been unlucky when the ball is put in play, nearly twice of the other competitors but able to control the damage and get out of jam more likely than the other two. I want that clutch factor in post season. but it will come down between Ryu and Hill and I would probably predict that Hill will win that job.
so with Kershaw-Wood-Yu-Hill rotation, I am not sure there will be enough room for two left over starters on the roster. one will definitely be removed. but I prefer we move Stewart and Stripling and make room for both.
ehhhhh f it.

Kershaw is the only lock right now with Hill pretty much assured a spot as well. While I certainly want Wood to recapture his previous fine form to deserve a spot, his lowered velocity and continued mechanical issues make him questionable for even a bullpen role in the playoffs.
I agree that Maeda pretty much took himself out of consideration, but he could still be a good option in relief. I'll further admit that Ryu has definitely earned consideration for a starting role right now, I'm still uneasy with counting on him. However, it'd be great if he can continue to ride the momentum and solidify a spot in the postseason rotation as the team certainly needs it.
Darvish is such a wildcard. On talent alone, he's a lock but the inconsistencies with his performance and mechanics on top of his mental issues of putting too much pressure on himself is doing no one any favors. At the same time, it's like we have no choice but to go with him as a starter for the playoffs.
Stripling has impressed of late as a reliever and I'd like to see Buehler get a spot in the bullpen as well. I was hoping to see Font make the postseason roster, but he's pretty much blown his chances at this point.
Right now, I'd put Dodgers playoff rotation as follows:
- Clayton Kershaw
Rich Hill
Yu Darvish
Hyun-Jin Ryu
