We have a better chance using you as a trade chip down the road for Klay Thompson

Wingo for Klay!
Who says no?

Yeah, but our salaries don't match up. Like, at all.

Lee for Shump / 2019 MIN 2nd / 2020 POR 2nd

CLE upgrades at the backup SG and doesn't give up any potential rotational pieces.

Knicks get some minor assets and long term
salary relief.

IT DRose
JR Lee
Lebron Crowder
KLove Green
TT Zizic

Frank Baker
THJ Dotson
Shump Kuz
Melo LFT
KP WHG

I feel like is worth more than 2 2nds and cap relief. Also, should we even look for cap relief right now? It would take a few moves and probably a decent amount of assets to get any sort of significant space.

Then again, maybe re-allocating some of our cap to either PG or SF would make more sense... although you can argue Lee is more than fit to play SF almost exclusively.

This is about 2019 cap space. We're screwed right now for 2018, unless Melo opts out.

LFT only has 1 mil guaranteed for 19-20. Getting Lee off the books for 19-20 pushes us into the 30+ range I believe. Maybe more. Stretch Noah and that goes to north of 35. Somehow dump Noah and that gets you into the 50 range.

KP has his big cap hold that year or else we'd really be able to make some huge moves.

I don't think we could get more than 2 2nd for him given their situation. If we send him to OKC for Kanter, I think we could get Ferguson. He fits better there IMO

Nerlens Noel Agrees To Sign With Mavs On One-Year, $4.1M QO
AUG 26, 2017 1:40 PM

Nerlens Noel has agreed to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks on the qualifying offer worth $4.1 million for one season.

Noel will become an unrestricted free agent in 2018.

The Mavericks traded for Noel at the 2017 trade deadline.

The two sides remained far apart on talks for a multi-year deal.

Could be a potential good fit next to KP and help with that proposed defensive focus from up top. Wonder what it would cost to trade for him since they could lose him for nothing.

Only if THJ makes his overpaid contract seem like a bargain.

It's not about trading for star players, it's about trading for star players if it made sense. That last part is where the Knicks have historically failed to understand.

You think GSW are going to pony up the money for Klay?

Solomon Hill down for a while.

Any chance Pelicans take the human lowlight reel, MFLFT, off the Knicks?

Only his bad back has veto power over his return. Maybe he'll be a useful SF off the bench for somebody, if he holds up. If not, I worry it could mean a wheelchair for him.

I didn't even know he was out of the league or that he has a weak back. LOL. That's a shame.

He had big time surgery and everybody, except for you, forgot all about him!

Posted this on the T&T board.

Cavs out: IT, Shump, Frye, & RJ, & Cavs2018 1st
Cavs in: Melo

NY out: Melo
NY in: IT, Shump, Frye, & RJ, & Cavs2018 1st

Why for the Cavs: They need a consolidation trade. The addition of Melo allows the Cavs to engage some creative line ups and replace Kyrie's lost offense. Instead of watching our bench get outscored, our second unit can actually outscore the opponent. Cavs still need a starting PG after this but they've got enough depth elsewhere to make that happen.

Why for NY: Of the $26 million you're getting back, $16 million is in expiring contracts, and Shump's $10 million only goes on for an additional year if he opts in. If he doesn't, you've got $26 million in expiring contracts. Get a low-cost look at IT. Flip him at the deadline, or keep him if you like, plus the first.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Is there a restriction on re-trading IT after just obtaining him? There are other problems too like we get not one good young player.
