I would like to see Lowell around for maybe another 3 years. Right now the Sox have no great prospect coming up that plays third base. The Sox can either trade for a 3B prospect a la Renteria for Marte (except this time it would be Lugo or Drew) and let the prospect play in the minors while Lowell is in the majors. Then Lowell would not be re-signed when his 2-3 year deal signed after this season is up, and the young prospect would start at third (a la the sox letting go of Loretta and starting Pedrioa)
OR
The Sox could let Lowell go, and go all out crazy style this offseason and trade for a 3B like Aramis Rameriz or Miguel Caberera, or go sign A-Rod

I would sure like to see them go for an all-star bat right now IMO. I don't know if we still would have the payroll for A-Rod, but it wure would be nice. I vote for this to be honest, even though Lowell does have some good play left in him.
