McAdoo's last all-star season was before he was traded to the Celtics. Maxwell was never an All-Star.

Ainge is the guy who was traded almost exactly one year after playing in the All-Star Game.

The most recent example (for either question) I can think of before the ones involving Ainge was in 1956.

But...did the question say the All-Star appearance had to be as a Celtic? All-star 1977-78 for New York; played 1978-79 for Boston; traded to Detroit in 1979 1 year removed from the All-Star appearance! I think he is technically the right answer :-)

LOL. You have a point.

In honor of Jaylen Brown:

1. Who is generally credited with organizing the NBA Player's Union, and was its first president?

2. Who was its second president?

3. What event caused the team owners to finally recognize the union?

As your next post suggests you've realized, you were correct on the first two but not the last one.

As a major hint for other folks on #3 -- the story includes both Tom Heinsohn and Jerry West.

I believe it was 1964, when players threaten to boykot all-star game...in the last minute game was saved when owners recognizes players union
There's only one statistics that's important: who won...Bill Russell

In honor of Tony Allen, I ask:

In whose honor have the Celtics retired numbers?
What else have they retired along with numbers, and for whom?

Answers to the first question are in http://www.nba.com/celtics/history/retired-numbers/

Two retired numbers are for non-players.
Two retired numbers are for players who never won a championship with the Celtics.

New question: Who's the last Celtic's player to wear #33 before Larry Bird?

Correct, of course.

And to repeat the question whose answer I didn't link to -- what was retired other than numbers?

Good chance Jayson Tatum will start for the Celtics on opening night next week. Who was the last Celtics rookie to start an opener?

In what year did Red try to sign the best player from Europe to come over and join the then-champion Celtics, more than a decade before any Euro had any success in the NBA?
