Dutch Auction - CANCELLED

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Mon Sep 18, 2017 10:39 pm

Maybe we'll try this at a later date or different day of the week, but it's pretty obvious this one is a no go.

A Dutch auction is a type of auction in which the auctioneer begins with a high asking price which is lowered until some participant is willing to accept the auctioneer's price.

For the purposes of this game, we will be auctioning off 2017 players (based on the 2017 season) over about a three hour window. But instead of starting at a low price, we start at the highest price. As time passes, the price to claim any player still available decreases. Claims continue until everyone has claimed eight players.

The list below shows how the price of claiming a player decreases as time passes. You will have $100 to spend. Since you must claim 8 players, you couldn't bid over $93 on a player. The windows are a bit longer toward the end, when there should be more activity. At 3:39 and on, claims continue at $1 until everyone has 8 players.

All times EST.

As stated, we are claiming players for the 2017 season. This will prevent too much waiting before claiming players since the pool is limited and there won't be easy replacements for a player you're hoping to claim.

All players must have played in 41 regular season games. Eight players with an eight minute minimum in rotations.

Clear as mud?

For the purposes of clarity, is there a FGA limit or similar criteria?

Sorry, I am blind and didn't see the date in the thread title. I have a wake/funeral to go to on Saturday, so I won't be available to play.

Looks like it's just us.

Probably should take this one down sometime tomorrow if it doesn't start getting some interest.

I'm going to skip this one. I don't know what my plans will be saturday. I think a weeknight might be more successful for something like this.

Yeah I'm normally watching football (that's "soccer" to you American heathens) around that time. I'd be more amenable to a regular auction or something like a speed draft, but monitoring something like this almost down to the minute isn't a commitment I want to make.

This one isn't looking good, but I'm determined to do something of a one-day nature on Saturday, or a two day Saturday and Sunday since it's been a while and this weekend is unusually open for me.

Maybe another Frustration draft? viewtopic.php?f=340&t=1557121#start_here

A straight speed draft?

That thought crossed my mind. Not sure what the time frame would be to accommodate both coasts.Maybe 8-11 EST (5-8 on the West coast). I really think it would be a fun and different exercise. Maybe compressing it to two hours would help.

I'm west coast but always work east coast hours so something like that would work fine for me.
