Context matters when you can provide it. For instance, Noel saw a drop in RPM during his second year. That also happened to be the year he spent the majority of his minutes at PF. There you go - a contextual explanation. There is no contextual explanation for why the Sixers are so much worse with Okafor than with any of their other centers, even D-league scrubs like Shawn Long. The only explanation is that Okafor sucks.

With the Randle and Smart analogy, you'd need to figure out a contextual explanation for Randle being a negative player on the Lakers. Is he being played out of position? Are the Lakers not playing to his strengths? The goal of most NBA teams is to win basketball games. Getting the most out of your players is a good way of accomplishing that. Very rarely are players put in positions that severely limit their performance.

It is tiring to see the same 'context matters' argument brought up every time RPM is mentioned. Yes, context matters. Can you provide a contextual explanation for player A's RPM? No? Then you don't actually have a point to make.

Context is a very important factor, especially with 2 teams that had huge incentives to lose games.
The Lakers and Sixers benefited from losing the last few seasons, you can't deny that.

The Sixers had guards that played poorly, Cannon, Sergio, Jakaar, and many others.
Okafor played with a bad team, you say he sucks when he wasn't on a team that wanted to win.

Okafor has weaknesses that have been exposed. He lost weight and has been doing agility exercises to become more mobile.
He may never improve enough, but if he does he could be a very good scoring big off the bench.

An Embiid and Okafor rotation could be a challenge for most teams, they would be very difficult for small ball centers to defend.
Okafor would punish most backup centers, especially if they were in foul trouble from Embiid.

Context is very important.

Fultz
Redick
Covington
Simmons
Okafor

If Embiid misses games, Okafor could be a very valuable player.
If Okafor does poorly with that lineup than he should be criticized.

Before people respond negatively, I would like to see him play with a team that wants to win and judge him on those statistics.
This year, he could get his 20 and 10, and play better team defense. He did avg 17 and 7 his first year.

Brett Brown said they asked Fultz to put on some weight, thinks it will be good for him at the NBA level.

Haven't seen enough of Reddick play to make a definitive statement, but I'm guessing out of that group he will have the hardest time on switches.

Just wondering if that's Chick-fil-A weight or what.

With JJ you'll get great effort and guy who'll be where he's supposed to be. He just overmatched physically on most nights. However on most nights the Sixers should have physical advantages at each other spot.

Anyone else cynical and read that as Fultz has bulked up - so the PR spin is 'yeah we asked him to' instead of 'weight concerns'?

Many perimeter players stay lean and dominate - Imagine if Durant bulked up too much :(

Not quick enough so they are trying to make him a SG? Well BB also said he has amazing wingspan

Or maybe quick enough that he can afford more weight.

Yeah I am cynical. It's not like Fultz is Brandon Ingram skinny. In fact if anything I thought the focus should be on him losing that puppy fat that he is carrying from eating too much fast food. Any more "bulk" and he will start to look like Fat Albert.

I doubt it's PR spin. Brown probably did ask Fultz to bulk up. Veteran guards beat up on Rookie guards. Fultz's only chance to compete is to bulk up so he can be physical. His whole game is making contested shots, so he has to be strong enough to get up these contested shots against bigger defenders.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

3 more days til Fultz shuts up the haters on this board, and dominates the PNR with Ben Simmons. Can't freaking wait.

Agreed. His game isn't quickness.

He can shoot already. I think that he has the basic natural scoring ability too.

Added strength should help him to finish in traffic.

Maybe Fultz will be a less chubby less fat but quicker version of Dennis Scott lol.
