2017 TV/Movie/Book Thread with Spoilers

Yeah, I just thought everything about it was so well done. The writing, the acting all of it was great. I've watched it three times, it's getting into that 3:10 to Yuma level for me where I will stop and watch it whenever I see it on.

Man. You guys need to give me a quick and dirty list of your top ten or so favorite movies. I need to know if we just have different tastes or if I slept on this stupid f*cking movie.

Been a really long time since I have thought about a top 10 list, but if I am leave out the total Sci Fi (Star Wars, Avengers, Lord of the Rings etc.) off the top of my head in no particular order

Saving Private Ryan
Gladiator
Fight Club
Memento
6th Sense
V for Vendetta
3:10 to Yuma
Tombstone
There will be blood
Gangs of New York

I'm sure I am missing some others, but those come to mind, and Hell or High Water is right there in the mix.

See, I thought CHoHW was just a decent movie not really close to being a great one, and based on your list, I think it''s clearly a question of taste because while I genuinely really like all the flicks you mention (never seen tombstone) only Memento would be close to my top 10.

But if CHoHW, which is like the Jeremy Lamb/KOQ of realGM movies, ever comes on Netflix I'll have to watch it again and see if I missed some it's charms the first time around.

It was nominated for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Editing. 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. It's more like the James Harden of RealGM movies. Not quiet the best recent movie but definitely in the discussion.

I'm not a movie buff, but if you aren't really watching it, there are TONS of great little interactions between the characters which I really enjoyed. In particular the scene at the gas station where Pine beats up the dude and his brother just calmly ask for his Dr. Pepper, which Pine gets him a Mr. Pibb and he says something to the fact "Mr. Pibb is for ****". That kind of stuff that I found humor in was embedded all over the movie.

I dug "mother!" quite a bit, but it's easy to see why it wouldn't be everybody's cup of tea. I also am a pretty big fan of Aranofsky's work in general, including "Noah." My biggest criticism of this one is that the ending of act 2 and the beginning of act 3 are so similar that they feel redundant. I understand each has it's own biblical parallel but they're represented exactly the same as to make it drag a little bit. Once things really start to start ramping up though I love the sheer insanity and boldness of it.

I think the show earned that, though. They clearly weren't a great couple. She was dumping him regularly, and even when they got back together the last time she was still cheating on him. So I can believe she'd hold onto that evidence and her reputation if it meant a dude she didn't really care about was kicked out of school.

She really was a bitch but damn. I meant to mention this earlier. Did you think the dog food would mean more? I have no idea why he bought it in the first place and why it was basically ignored as evidence.

Hmmm. Top ten movies.... I'm not sure I've ever tried to put together a list. 10 might be a struggle but I'll giver er a go. It will be similar to some of the other lists. Not surprisingly I guess. We are all about the same age, in the same state, and with a lot of the same interests.

I actually liked all the movies in his top 8 but wouldn't have any of them close to mine, including Casablanca which is consensus top 3 GOAT. For the most part I like the stuff he loves and he does not like the stuff I love. But I hate most of the stuff he likes. If we're talking about music, I think he's everything that's wrong with the world.

I'm still waiting for that space epic script.
