Again, there a lot of different options and we can't know what Melo position is, and how FO is looking at it.

Perhaps there is a deal with Portland just sitting there, and FO knows that Melo will wave his clause for Portland if you wait just a little bit more, so all my talk about taking Anderson is crazy.

Maybe there are deals with Houston and Portland, that Melo is approving, but FO wants something better and knows Melo is so fed up with NY, that he will open up even more..Who knows.

But if we believe rumours and speculations from the media, its either Rockets or NY and thats it.

If you have no choice, you take Anderson before its too late and you are picking 9th while Melo just put up 20 points on 20 shots.

There is not a chance in hell that we are going to dump Melo for Anderson JUST to avoid a media circus. We've had some stupid GM's in our time, but even the dumbest ones wouldn't make a deal just to avoid Frank Isola being a meany head in the press because we decided to keep Melo for the time being. Taking Anderson's contract without subsequently moving him would be horrible horrible horrible and the ONLY reason to do so would be to dump Melo. It's just plain silly. This is a game of chicken Melo is going to lose. He can be optimistic all he wants, he doesn't ultimately control his fate, we do.

while I do agree in not "caving" these negotiations are completely different than any other situation. Normally if you have a desirable asset you can negotiate with multiple teams. If Melo is unwilling to go anywhere but HOU it does indeed complicates matters.

Because as fans we can sit by and say "hey just keep him". When in reality the organization is a business and the negative media will effect the team/players if Melo does come back. So there needs to be a middle ground in terms of getting as good as value as possible and getting rid of the headache that will come with keeping Melo on the team from a media/team perspective.

With the Carmelo angle they can use that up until he's traded or until the season ends.

If you trade him just to pander to the media, it would make this organization act like it has no backbone. Rather take the lumps than just bend backwards to a couple of slimy beat writers. Get the best trade possible, even if it takes it up to the trade deadline.
