Their window isn't unlimited and it probably is even shorter than the Warriors since the Rockets added an older CP3 so with them being so close and one star quality piece away from being on that level it would be a shame for their fans if he screws it up because Ryan effing Anderson...

Oh sure it tickles me he's such a stubborn douche so pissing away the chance but it's still a disgrace he's not seeing the facts.

That's the thing that most people don't get. CP3 is older and it was understood when he agreed to sign with them that Melo would be acquired. Now you have an older superstar with one year left on his deal and an incomplete promise. If they don't succeed in winning a championship, it all blows up in Morey's face and CP3 can bolt to Spurs or some other team. There is a great deal of pressure on the Rockets.

Melo also has an impossible solution on his hands also. If he shows up and is malcontent then he gets a bad rep in Denver and a bad rep in NY, leaving 3-5 years of his new team to completely reshape his image. He personifies with NY and he cares about his reputation. At 33, it's a bad career move for his legacy to tarnish what he did here. He did carry this team for a few years. That said, he also wants to win at 33. So he's stuck in a bad spot. So does he open up his teams? That may be his best course of action.

you're not answering it because there is no answer, a "triangle player" is not a real thing -- though if you wanted to list off things on what a "triangle player" is ..

- big guard
- can handle the ball
- can pass the ball
- can cut to the rim
- can come off screens
- can move without the ball

would you agree those would be characteristics of a "triangle player"? if so is that bad? if i'm wrong then please tell me what you think a "triangle player" is.

It is interesting that this question remains unanswered.

My guess is people think that Derek Fisher or BJ Armstrong are the only type of PGs allowed in the Triangle.

Carmelo Anthony already has a bad rep... he was ranked 64.!!

It should only go up from here to be honest...

Besides Carmelo will always be known as a lethal scorer, no matter how the rest of his career plays out.

For the one billionth time, there is no such thing as a "triangle PG". Phil's teams went for shooters at PG because they had MJ, Pippen, Kobe and Odom handling the ball at SG and SF. So the teams went shooting at PG.

Sh*t isn't that complicated.

He might be known as an one dimensional player on the court, but off the court he isn't known as a team wrecker/cancer. That's something that he doesn't want.

As to what Melo has done for us, not much. Got a good season or two.

If you list out all the transactions since the Spreewell trade, his 3 years of leading this team to the playoffs is far and away the most return on any move the Knicks have made in that timeframe.

Nothing even comes close.

I could only imagine how bad we'd have been if we stood pat or worse, traded for DWill the next day instead.

dude is already one of the top forwards in the game. he's been good for awhile now.

yeah took him 7 years of his career to finally break out
and yet a 33 year old melo still cooks him every matchup

But you're still talking about DSJ and i don't think anything anyone else on here talks about is more annoying then that.

If Melo comes in and is a leader I would really respect dude. I mean if he comes in and says "I am here lets get this started and win some games" It will show why guys always got his back.

you just used it, you thought frank was a "triangle player" so you know what it means. i don't, so please define it.

He obviously doesn't know and needs some time to go read up on the triangle and get back to you later...lol

Whole analysis is spot on

What Mills, Perry and Hornacek did today was set their tone for this situation involving Melo. What Melo now needs to do is the same.
