OKC is giving up what again?
This is the difference between competent front offices and what the Knicks do.
Remember the Tyson trade? Fast forward to what Denver got Mozgov.
We can go on and on about the **** trades the Knicks get down with.
Never budged, or had no assets to facilliate a trade in which we were looking for next to nothing in return? They made a terrible signing in Anderson because he fit D'Antoni's system, similar to why we signed Noah because he fit a system. Just because they couldn't make something work out for Melo doesn't mean they did a good job in this process.
Tyson wanted out and Melo wanted him gone, it was a crap return but lets not pretend that there was a ton of value for a player who just quit on his team and the star player wanted him gone. Denver played it's cards right, were able to trade Mozgov to a team that was in a finals push and had a coach who was Mozgov's coach. The two situations couldn't be further apart.
We could go on and on, but the Knicks usually are never trading from a side of strength due to their own dysfunction.
Melo's albatross salary and willingness to only go to a select few teams neutered whatever value he had left. What logical person expected a great return for him?
I'm just glad we don't have to pay anymore attention to the Melo nonsense and perhaps we can give Jeff a chance to coach this team his way, where he has proved that he can succeed in this league.
