I wish I was a mature thinking as you.

The team just needed to move on. Just glad it's over. Knicks and Melo can move forward and hopefully both find better success without each other.

Me too.

We'll keep getting hopefully former head cases like Beasley and crossing our fingers that the stars align.

I would not be surprised if Porzingis is eyeing the door the first opportunity he gets.

With Frank, KP and Willy I feel we have executed this plan since Phil.. Don't throw tomatoes at me I am just saying we have slowly moved in the right direction. I was a Phil endorser but I love our new GM. I was clearly wrong on that one

I'm a Knick fan, through and through. Your pain is my pain.

Perry seems to conduct himself like a professional and everyone seems to only have positive things to say about him. Some relationships are just unrepairable. I think we were the guilty party more than Carmelo was, but no ones hands are clean.

Being realistic, I think KP will be good. I don't think he'll ever be Carmelo good. I definitely do not think KP is going to be able to carry a franchise, nor do I think he will be able to survive a full season being the 1st option. He will need a lot of help even in his prime if he is here. He now has the target squarely on his back. Carmelo took the blunt of the heat. There are no longer shields deflecting attention and criticism from the fans and media. Hopefully our new front office learns how to run some interference with the media.

I think Willy will be a solid player, but not someone you could classify a cornerstone. I don't know what to make of Frank, because only a hand full of people have actually seen him play.

I'm rocking with my team because I always have, but we have to learn to treat our talent better.

We didn't build around him because nobody wanted to play with him or for him (since it would be considered his team) they know he does not pass nor does he play defense..and please do not useTeam USA because that is not representative of normal teams dynamics...

This is a great day. The king of fake hustle is gone. Good riddance to his poor shot selection, unwillingness to pass and horrifically lazy help defense. What I'll remember is winning one playoff series in seven seasons and handling the Linsanity situation like a toddler. Dude is the biggest phony of this generation.

Love melo, enjoyed watching him on our team, and hope he somehow gets a ring. Will be good to see him in an offense that gets him open shots and in the playoffs again.

When has Melo ever carried a franchise to anything?

Very torn about Melo on and off the court. I think he really grew and matured as a person off the court while he was here. From (depending on which sources you believe) the whole forcing out of D'Antoni and Lin to taking a mentorship role with a rising star in KP.

On the court he was all over the place. Looked dominant offensively for stretches. Even had a couple partial seasons where he led by example doing things he wasn't known for like hustling and looking to distribute more.

But then there were times where he looked plain unaware of what was going on. Like he had virtually no bball IQ. Too often down a basket he would nonchalantly be strolling up the court as the clock wound down only to be forced to chuck up a 34 footer.

Unfortunately his legacy in NY will be nothing more than another unmemorable stain to add to the collection.

When has Melo ever carried a franchise to anything? Other than Lebron, I can't think of another player who can carry a franchise.

Not going to argue with you, but whatever that bar is for Melo I feel confident setting my expectations at less with KP than Carmelo given the same tools.

Knicks made the best of a bad situation.

Melo was terrific and prolific.

But, everything runs it's course. The Knicks window to win with him closed some time ago. And it was only ever really open a crack. The trade for Melo was not about trying to build a perennial winner. It was all about putting people in seats. Even today, fans here are rooting for Melo over the team.

I don't see OKC taking out the Warriors, but, it will be fun to watch. Melo as a 2nd or 3rd option is nasty.

Melo, you are appreciated. But it was just time to go.

The Knicks are FINALLY rebuilding.

respect to melo to finally care about winning and it will be really fun to see him in OKC who I will be routing for.

We can move forward with our youth and tanking. Props to melo for opening up his teams and not screwing us into taking anderson contract.

GL melo hope you get a chip with Russy and PG13

Uh no, that would be Ewing.

Duh

Ewing's prime was damn near 20 years before Melo came here.

You said decades, no?! :dontknow:

Melo was indeed a terrific addition for NY, but all the side stuff wore on people I believe. The same was the case in Denver and in Indiana for Paul George or OKC with Durant.

It wasn't the deal everyone was clamoring for, but it was a good deal in terms of what smart GMs do and we haven't had a smart deal in awhile.

    • We DIDN'T add long-term salary: check!
    • We got a pick (this HIGH second will also NOT add long-term salary: check!
    • We got serviceable role players, who are STILL young, on good deals, and won't interfere with our core: check!

In the past, our management would likely have GIVEN a pick in the deal just to dump the salary. :nonono:

lol your nuts. They were a 6th seed with Russy, Oladipo, and Sabonis.

They just changed Oladipo and Sabonis into PG13 and Melo...they are easily top 3 if not the 2nd best right now.
