Eh, just because those were the expectations from some doesn't mean it was realistic. I just think people are VASTLY overrating how much we could have gotten from Melo. Hell Paul George only got Oladipo and Sabonis. Even Jimmy Butler didn't really get much in return. Melo is by FAR the worst of those three players by a long shot. Again, there is a reason we were hearing Anderson, Harkless, Evan Turner, Leonard, etc. Expecting a first round pick from this past draft or future drafts was NEVER realistic.

Addition by subtraction. T-Ferg or Abrines woulda been nice but cmon now. We got two 25 year old useful players and a second round pick for a 33 year old with a NTC and serious on the court cache and presence (it'll be interesting watching he, Russ and PG together).

If Indy got what they got for PG why would people expect us to get more for Melo?

It's cool. We got a one dimensional post monster and a potential floor spacer with a high second rounder. Now let's just consolidate the big position and figure what we do with Lee. And let's be an actual team.

He's right though. This is just as much addition by subtraction as anything else. We are rebuilding now, and we didn't take on any long term deals. I know you wanted some good assets, but there is a reason we heard names like Ryan Anderson and Moe Harkless. He was NEVER fetching a first rounder (some here even said they wanted the BK pick which makes my head spin). Hell to be honest I am surprised we got that Chicago 2nd, I didn't think any pick would be involved, let alone a top 35 pick.

No, it actually doesn't, since people on this message board have no concept of what Melo or Ferguson's actual value is. You have nothing but bias and speculation to go off of, not actionable NBA intel.
