I'm a Knick fan, through and through. Your pain is my pain.

Perry seems to conduct himself like a professional and everyone seems to only have positive things to say about him. Some relationships are just unrepairable. I think we were the guilty party more than Carmelo was, but no ones hands are clean.

Being realistic, I think KP will be good. I don't think he'll ever be Carmelo good. I definitely do not think KP is going to be able to carry a franchise, nor do I think he will be able to survive a full season being the 1st option. He will need a lot of help even in his prime if he is here. He now has the target squarely on his back. Carmelo took the blunt of the heat. There are no longer shields deflecting attention and criticism from the fans and media. Hopefully our new front office learns how to run some interference with the media.

I think Willy will be a solid player, but not someone you could classify a cornerstone. I don't know what to make of Frank, because only a hand full of people have actually seen him play.

I'm rocking with my team because I always have, but we have to learn to treat our talent better.

W

When has Melo ever carried a franchise to anything? Other than Lebron, I can't think of another player who can carry a franchise.

Not going to argue with you, but whatever that bar is for Melo I feel confident setting my expectations at less with KP than Carmelo given the same tools.

W

Ok, I can respect that. I guess I'm fine with it because I think KP will elevate his teammates more than Melo ever did because he's a team player who'll move the ball a lot more. All the ability in the world is wasted if you don't play the right way.

So how soon before were getting the pitch forks and torches engraved with Porzingis' initials on it? That's my "Ode to Anthony".

Never, unless he changes drastically for the worse. Even though most of our fanbase already knows he's a 2nd banana (while the rest is slowly coming to that realization), the kid plays the game the right way. He's smart, unselfish and plays on both ends of the court.

How long have you been following the Knick? I've been following them since the early 70's (basically since they last won a championship). This is a tried and run repetitive cycle. It's happened for the last 45 years. Human nature. Easy to predict because it's so hard to change. Well be talking about this again in 3 or 4 years tops. Assuming Porzingis doesn't do what others have not in the past 45 years. Exit NY on his own terms (meaning in his prime)

At the age of 27, the Melo era was some of the best Knicks I could remember (unfortunately). He will always be appreciated in my eyes and it's a shame it had to end like this, but it was time for both parties to move on.

28 years.

Fans loved Ewing, it was mostly the media that got on him for his shortcomings and a minority of our fan base. Our fans love guys who play hard and play the right way.

Yep. Was definitely time to move on. Probably even 3 or so years late.

Duh

Ewing's prime was damn near 20 years before Melo came here.

You said decades, no?! :dontknow:

Melo was indeed a terrific addition for NY, but all the side stuff wore on people I believe. The same was the case in Denver and in Indiana for Paul George or OKC with Durant.

It wasn't the deal everyone was clamoring for, but it was a good deal in terms of what smart GMs do and we haven't had a smart deal in awhile.

    • We DIDN'T add long-term salary: check!
    • We got a pick (this HIGH second will also NOT add long-term salary: check!
    • We got serviceable role players, who are STILL young, on good deals, and won't interfere with our core: check!

In the past, our management would likely have GIVEN a pick in the deal just to dump the salary. :nonono:

--Mags

I still don't like this deal but whatever. He's gone so all the haters should be happy.
Watch him ball with a real team.
I'm ready for my top 3 pick.

Knicks were a bad move. Looking back he should have stayed in Denver.

Or, waited one year to sign as a Free Agent.

Maybe then TKF wouldn't have gone nuts. :D

He wanted his money. He should have stayed in Denver and got paid on a better run team.

Knicks fans need to stop thinking dudes are going to take less money to come play for this fanbase and state.

That's a 6 seed.

lol your nuts. They were a 6th seed with Russy, Oladipo, and Sabonis.

They just changed Oladipo and Sabonis into PG13 and Melo...they are easily top 3 if not the 2nd best right now.

They're not better than Golden St, Houston or San Antonio. Utah, LAC and Minnesota are equivalent.
