Around the NBA, 2016-17 Season thread

Post#1861 » by Paradise » Sat Sep 23, 2017 6:01 pm

The West is going to be a bloodbath. I don’t think we’ve seen the level of parity in the West in quite some years. Top 25 stars are all in the West.

Warriors, Thunder, Rockets, Timberwolves, Spurs, Nuggets, Pelicans, Grizzlies, Clippers, Blazers are all postseason contenders with an all-star seeing each other four times.

The bottom won’t be a cakewalk either. Jazz, Lakers, Kings, Suns are significantly more talented.

lol @ the Knicks. Couldn't even get their 1st rounder which will be bottom barrel.

OKC is STACKED. Lordy I'm not going to look forward to playing them.

And yeah the West is a bloodbath. And Lebron is going to the Lakers next season.

meanwhile, we can develop our players and pad our record in the weaker East and become an attractive destination in 2 seasons

Honestly, if I was a Knicks fan, I would hate Melo. Had he just expanded his trade list even a season sooner, they would've gotten a much better return.

Sessions/Baker/Jack
Lee / Nttilkina/McDermott
Hardaway / Beasley
Porzingis /Oquinn
Hernangomez/Kanter/Noah

The Knicks won 17 games the last time Melo missed significant time.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but Melo might have been holding that team hostage. For fans that wanted rebuilding, they couldn't go for the full way with him around (although they still managed to get KP).

I don't think Melo will last long in OKC. PG's style is way more fit for Thunders than his.
Most NBA stats aren't credible. At most times the people who interprets those data are biased, or the data themselves are flawed. Basketball is just too complicated with so many uncontrollable variables.

"positionless basketball"

PG: Westbrook
SG: George
SF/PF = Melo / Roberson
C: Adams

No kidding, only the Kings and the Suns are gonna be tanking.

Only Hayward has gone the other way.

I don't get what you mean by "Top 25 stars are all in the West" tho

The genius Sam Presti strikes again. The strings that he pulls and the trades he pulls off are sheer genius and a thing of beauty. Of course, on paper, OKC looks to be unstoppable and should be able to compete with GSW, SA, and Houston to challenge for supremacy "on paper" with the roster they have put together. I'm saying all that without homerism coming into play.

If Presti can some how keep the new version of the big 3 together in OKC- he should consider his campaign for presidency in 2020. Not even Russ0Westbrook could foresee this type of roster coming together after their short run in the playoffs last season. But, it's just another example of Presti doing what he can to keep Russell in OKC for a long time. I hope that OKC can win enough games and make a deep enough run in a stacked division to keep everything in tact going forward.

As a Brooklyn fan 1st (lifer) and an OKC fan 2nd (hometeam) I can say this has been one of the most enjoyable off seasons I have seen from either team in some time. I believe Sean Marks coming from that San Antonio tree like Presti will pay dividends long term for the Brooklyn organization and I wouldn't want it any other way. Presti for President, Sean Marks for Vice President 2020.
OKC Thunder fan, too.

Melo is going to play stretch 4 next to Adams. He is in a great situation.

Westbrook/Roberson/George/Anthony/Adams is a perfect 5. You get excellent wing defense, three point shooting, and a 5 man that can defend and cover on switches nevermind the fact that Russell fills up every category on the box score. they should win plenty of games.

People are laughing at the return but I think its one of the better packages the Knicks could've got. Kanter for 2 years is better than any of Portland's 3 year bad contracts (Leonard, Turner, Harkless) and McDermott seems like the type of shooter who could strive on a big stage in the garden.

To me, the most lolnix thing they did this off season was not draft Malik Monk. He's another guy who you could picture feeding off the energy in the garden. I think monk himself thought he was going to NY too.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
