Our Big Three

Post#1 » by skywalker33 » Mon Sep 25, 2017 12:33 am

Saw an interesting write-up on the Nuggets Big Three and I found the third star interesting

https://nugglove.com/2017/09/23/nuggets-potential-big-three-brewing/

Gary Harris was listed as our 3rd instead of Jamal Murray. Postulating that Harris will potentially step up again would be incredible, but I can see Murray making his move this season which could impede a bigger move by Harris. I don't see a step back but it could be more of a "competing" improvement competition there.

I mean Murray had a promising year for a rookie but his shot selection was crap, his defense abysmal, and overall he was a net negative player last year.

He's become very overrated. He had a good age 19 season and if he improves he's got a nice career trajectoey. But Harris is really good right now.

This is more of a defense of Harris than a knock on Murray.

I call BS on that, you seemed intent on jacking on Murray IMO.....and you really aren't taking into account that Murray played his ENTIRE rookie year with a hernia. I will concur that Harris showing he was a steal in the 2014 draft but I see Murray's ceiling as much higher than you project.

I didn't say anything about his ceiling... his ceiling really depends on if he can slide effectively to PG.

I like Murray. He was a good pick in a draft that is now looking like a total minefield. He just made me pull my hair out last year with his shot selection. The talent is clearly there though.

But Harris is much, much better on both ends right now

Calling him overrated and he's a net negative does say a lot about what you think his ceiling is, at least that's my interpretation of your cheapshot comments .

I do agree Harris, as of right now is the better player but I stand by my statement Murray's development will conflict with Harris making that "next-level" jump.

As for his shot selection, as with most rookies he definitely could have been better. However, he was much more efficient as the season went on.

Really think it show lack of etiquette coming over to another teams forum and insult their players.

Nothing cheap shot about it

Harris had a 61 TS% last year. The guy was automatic. With a nice ast/to ratio. All coming off a bad injury at only 22 yo.

If Murray takes away from Harris development I'll be surprised. I'll leave it at that.

Murray was a rookie, of course his shot selection and defense was bad. He showed great improvement in ball handling and finishing at the rim. He became stronger and faster. He was good at the point guard position and showed flashed of good playmaking ability witch is to be expected since he played PG most of his life. He is also a good off ball player and a willing defender. I expect from him a breakout season this year averaging 16+ 4 4+. In his prime he will certainly be an allstar.

He is overrated and if he can slide effectively to PG? I don't know how you were pulling your hair out with his shot selection last year as you obviously were not watching him because if you had than you would realize how much more effective he was at PG than he was at SG.

If you look at the production from last year than Harris deserves to be a part of our big 3 as much as anybody on the roster, if you look at the future than it is pretty obvious that he must take a big step but our future as a contender is going to depend heavily on Murray and/or Juancho hitting their ceilings.

I predict Harris will have a better season than Murray this year, but Murray will surpass him in 18-19.

Call me surprised to hear that a rookie made some poor shot selections or struggled in some other manner. Last I checked, Murray's stats for the end of the year were much better than for the beginning of the year.

Denver's Big Three this year? Jokic & Millsap will be two of the three baring injury --- maybe Harris, maybe Murray, might even be Hernangomez, could be Chandler.

Denver's Big Three next year would seem to be more of a Big Four of Jokic-Millsap-Harris-Murray.

5 years from now? Jokic-Harris-Murray? Seems likely, but perhaps Denver adds another top player. Perhaps Hernangomez becomes a star - maybe Mudiay - wouldn't be shocked if Beasley became a star.

Of course people that don't see the Nuggets on a regular basis will always offer nonsensical comments; we've seen plenty of those for more than a couple of Malone-years.

Love the idea of Jokic-Harris-Murray in 5 years.

If Juancho can turn out to be a star, we will have our very own GSW-like dynasty right here. Exciting times.

I love juancho

If chandler is a part of the 3 that means we aren't making the playoffs again. Let's hope that's not the case

First, you're a Hornets fan not a Nuggets fan so I doubt you pay enough attention to OUR team to make anything more than second-hand speculation. Chandler is a good player who can help this team provided he stays healthy. Nobody is saying he's part of our Big Three but he should be able to play an intricate part of a nice playoff run.

Chandler is forgettable. And the nugs are my adopted team the past three years. Got the gear, watch the games, get the alerts, got the connects with the org, etc

And duh. Skywalker should say it all . Wolf pack alum.

And yet you show little respect for Chandlers capabilities, perhaps due to his attitude issues from last year. However, he is a very capable SF, most Nugget fans know that. And just because you have gear doesn't make you a fan, I have Hornets and Knicks gear from back in the day, got free swag because I supported some of their software, never meant I was a true fan. I'll support your opinion when it's credible but calling Chandler part of our Big Three (at least that's what I garner you were inferring considering that's the topic of this thread ) makes me question your knowledge of this team.

Last year was arguably Chandler's best year and he averaged 15.7 ppg & 6.5 rbg.
He makes an OK #3 in my book. He makes a better than average #4 in my book and he might be the best #5 option in the NBA or at least in the top few #5 options. If he's #3 this year, I think we'll be OK - still make the playoffs. I'm a huge fan of Murray & Hernangomez and have high hopes for Beasley and still believe Mudiay might come around. But they are still young and if this year leaves the best of that group as our #4, I'm OK with that (not next year though  ).

Even if those four have less than stellar years, Chandler will have to compete for #3 with Harris. I think both can be valuable in similar and yet different ways. The Nuggets have some serious hope for the future and 2017-2018 is merely a building block, not the destination.

Hard to consider someone a serious Nuggets fan when they wear a Hornets emblem on their sign on.
We welcome you here, just don't expect us to take the "we" meaning you are "Nuggets".
Edit: Even harder to accept you as "Nuggets" when you post with "we" & "us" & "our" on the Hornets board.

Ok well I have been a hornets fan since 1988. I was 6 years old when I started watching guys like kelly tripucka, dell curry, and rex Chapman win 20 games. I've lived in North Carolina for 35 years. Grew up within an hour of the arena and have never lived further away than 2 hrs 45 minutes.

But first and foremost I'm an NBA fan. I love everything about the league. I'm a historian. And an important guy in your front office is a friend of mine. I am a nugs fan period. Whether you accept me or not. When the hornets play the nuggets Oct 25 I'll run out in the court and flash the wolfpack sign during Dwight Howard's 3rd free throw just to prove it.

I will say I've never actually attended a nuggets game. I had tickets to two games but once I abandoned them to drive to mount Rushmore on a whim. And once I spent like 2 hours looking for the freaking dinosaur monument in Colorado. Couldn't find it. Ended up getting pulled over for passing multiple cars across double lanes trying to make the tip. Due to all my priors and outstanding warrants I couldn't rock my Wolf pack Letterman jacket courtside for some tix I scored via jj hickson associates. I gave the cop the riot act but he wouldn't budge

Sounds great - and not saying you're not a fan, but it sounds like "Hornets first". I'm OK with that. But if I were to post on the Hornets forum and say "I think Dwight Howard is going to be our best center ever because ..." --- I do not think it would be very well accepted.

Personally, I don't know any of the Nuggets' front office or executives or coaches. Since I have followed the Nuggets since they started in 1967 as the ABA Denver Rockets, I understand your Hornets passion. Embrace that and welcome here. Just think about the Hornets logo and then saying "we" regarding the Nuggets.
