That's only because of your premier luck..your dynasty luck wasn't so great. viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1481272

This isn't a bad year to do complete reverse order because the draft was deep, so no matter where you pick it's probably not bad, and of course if we leave it as a snake getting a couple closer together might not be a bad thing.

Yeah, i totally agree that this year it should just be reverse order due to us not having anything already in place.

I just think that when it does come to changing it, an all out lotto would be exciting and address all of the tanking issues in the simplest way possible.

Honestly, I don't see there being a tanking problem, but if we really want to safeguard against it, I think bottom half is the most a lottery should apply to and games played should be a factor in deciding who gets the top pick. I think inactivity is a greater problem for a long-term league, we shouldn't be handing high draft picks to players who weren't active.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

I don't think that works well since people went young early as their strategy. For us who didn't go totally young, of course we might think "Well, we need young guys now too since we have older vets" but it's a balance. Even though your first picks were LeBron and Paul, those guys have a while. Some of the guys that went young will have busts. I do think that a rule for not getting a top 3 pick 3 years in a row and having a reverse order based on activity for maybe the bottom 5 sound like good ideas.

I liked my idea of making the lottery random based on something we would all see would be good, but on further thought, some sort of weighted lottery would be better.

There are a couple things I'm trying to iron out as far as members. Weems has dibs on the open team, but if he gets his G league spot, the last spot will go to batsmasher and he will move the league to yahoo since many would like that...unless there are a majority opposed..which I doubt.

So once that G league spot is determined, we will see who our last member is here and can start the draft.

But of course we need to determine the draft order for next year.

I think we need TASTIC and batsmasher to weigh in on that.

I agree, but at the same time, with a certain level of inactivity, we should replace teams, and no one will want to take over a team that has an especially crappy roster because they were inactive. We maybe also should set a minimum number of games played (unless massive injuries occur to players you cannot drop) to stay in the league. I think Phystic who had the bottom record has been inactive pretty often. If he is in, fine, but that team needs a good pick. If inactive again, we could replace.

I kind of like the number of teams in the lotto being set by a random thing like the adding the suns win total. Otherwise u could see a little mini tank to get under the preset number. Say the number was 8 its not like theres some bragging rights to be in that 9 hole.

I should note with how deep our keeper pool and being a 16 team league the draft isn't all that great anyway. Its a crap shoot and even the elite rooks bust a bunch and take yrs to be fantasy relevant.

Yeah, my random idea of adding the Suns digits of wins for lottery picks was stellar. :)

But maybe a combination of a straight up lottery with equal odds combined with not being able to move down more than 3 spots if you maxed out your games played at each position and if you didn't, you can either drop as far as you drop, or maybe a max of 5 spots or something. So after the lotto, if someone dropped more spots, they move up to their lowest possible position knocking everyone else down one spot.

I like the idea of this, but if we have anything tied to playing the maximum number of games, there should be a buffer of some kind. For example, last year in one of the leagues (I think it was in dynasty), I had my games all scheduled out so that I would hit the max with the most games possible from my best players. And then there were a couple players who unexpectedly sat, so I ended up a couple games short of the max. I was active all season and finished fourth but didn't quite get the max number of games.

So I think there would need to be a buffer of some kind, like within 5 games of the max or something like that.

So I think there would need to be a buffer of some kind, like within 5 games of the max or something like that.

The other area where this could get problematic - especially as it's roto - is if players intentionally sit someone.

Like if someone got WAY ahead in REB, BLK, FG% and they were only 1-2 percentage points behind other teams ahead of them in FT%, it's completely conceivable that they intentionally sit someone like Dwight or DAJ or Drummond. Similarly someone heavy on guard stats but poor FG% might choose to sit a Rubio type if it means picking up 1-2 FG% points at the end of the year.

I think 5 GP might be a little tight, maybe 74 or 75 games? Seems arbitrary the difference between 5 games and 7/8, but 8 games is 10% of the season (roughly), which is why that might be better. So 90% games played is the buffer.

Also agree with majority, would need to be reverse order for this upcoming draft, too soon to change. I like BW's random number idea though, that's quite cool. We have a similar one in another dynasty league I'm in, where only the bottom two teams can win #1 and it's decided by the points total of the last finals game - one guy gets odds, the other evens. Small I know but those two managers were hanging out for the last game haha

Well, I was going to give it to Weemsickew14 but decided once he got the G league spot I might give it to batsmasher who would do a good job running it and move it to yahoo if he got it which seemed to be what quite a few wanted.

But I was also afraid Weems might get kicked out of G league so was waiting, and that just happened. So deciding what to do. Weems not being in a league is not good as a new guy wanting to get involved, but batsmasher would do a great job running things and moving things, etc.

That's partially why I just asked interest about a H2H league. If Weems and others are interested in that, we can go with batsmasher in the dynasty if he is still interested and it can perhaps be moved to yahoo.

I just noticed that batsmasher took over the last team. We are set to start the draft, then, right?

I signed up for the yahoo league since we moved over there. Changed my team name to Lillard time.

What’s the draft order going to be?

Check your emails. The Dynasty League is switching from ESPN to Yahoo, and emails have been sent with the link.
