Re: Porzingis thread #4: The KP era is upon us
At first glance, the answer would appear to be yes. This past season, Porzingis became a far more efficient scorer at the rim and from midrange. He improved from 58 percent at the basket as a rookie to 70 percent in Year 2 while also jumping from 41 percent from the 10-to-16-foot range to 48 percent. He managed to get better from the 3-point stripe, too, knocking down shots from the arc at a league-average clip. And it can’t be overlooked that the 7-foot-3 big man with the skill set of a guard actually managed to shoot better when Anthony (and former MVP Derrick Rose) was off the court than when they played together.

That is interesting, since a large number of people on this board thinks Porzingis regressed last season.

He had too many awkward moments on offense and that's IMO entirely because of us trying to ISO him at the elbow against smaller 4s. Just idiotic basketball. He should look much better this year since Horny will utilize him properly.
It is one hell of an endorsement though when you don't look that great and still improve statistically across the board. The kid is going to be a stud.

I hope we can trade 2 of our 5 centers so KP gets minutes there. He can't play the 4.

except he's listed as a center in EuroBasket

i don't know why it's hard for people to come to terms with the fact that porzingis is best utilized at the 5

And PLAYS at PF. Latvia also has more Forwards than true Centers IIRC.
In any event, you guys have some weird ass obsession with playing the guy at Center when he's performed VERY well so far at PF.
You have little to no proof to say he's best utilized at Center when majority of his time and increased production has been at the FOUR!
I have no doubt that if Giannis was on the Knicks y'all would be doing the same thing with him instead of letting him play where has been working best so far.
But yea, keep crying for him to "must" play Center.

Re: Porzingis thread #4: The KP era is upon us
I wonder how many more shots KP will take? I think he took around 14 last year. I expect 20 this year and with a better efficiency he should easily average 22+ points a game.

except you're only focusing on his offensive production. that doesn't really matter to me, he really plays like a small forward on that end. defensively he should be a center, his instincts as a shot blocker are better than his instincts as a perimeter defender.
the giannis comparison is weird considering he really plays point guard.

Re: Porzingis thread #4: The KP era is upon us
How about this: IDGAF about positions. Since when does positions really matter (outside of PG) in today's NBA?
It's all about guards, wings, and bigs. KP's game is a wing offensively, and a big defensively, but because of his size, he's a big.
4's and 5's really doesn't matter anymore.
