Some of you have no class :noway: i don't even know how anyone can knock the guy when the fo failed him. They didn't defend him when Phil bashed him. Everyone blames him for his trade to come here but he didn't force them that was the fo choice or moreso the nuggets probably threatened to trade him elsewhere and that made the Knicks jump but that's still on the fo.

actually... I'm adding Marshall Plumlee to my list. We went to L.A. twice. First time around, Randle wasn't on the team.

Ron Baker was on the team though, but I don't see him as that cocky of a person

Im going with Cleanthony Early. Too easy.

he wasn't around with the team during the season.

I didnt realize He was specific.

Exactly why he'd challenge him to a 1 on 1.

Also, it doesn't sound like it was a good game.

It's just unfortunate they could never find the right fit to maximize his time here in terms of coaching and supporting cast. Amar'e getting hurt was a huge blow. He was supposed to be that guy. We were never able to find anyone close to him in terms of talent. And hiring that idiot Phil was the nail in the coffin.

But Melo deserves blame too. It seemed drama and this black cloud followed him everywhere. Maybe he'll have better luck in OKC. I also don't believe outside that 2013 team that he gave it his 110% all. But whatever. It's done and over with. It just wasn't meant to be.

Then you never saw Bernard King play.

I was born in 82 so not really but watching highlights, Melo looks a little better and more versatile. King was more of a post scorer and stop and pop and had no 3 point shot.

Well, the 3 point shot wasn't nearly as big then. Plus, Bernard shot 55% FGs during his years with the Knicks so he was light years more efficient than Melo.

He referenced his on court play in the letter. They love Melo for Melo. He's not the game you or the anti-Melo crowd make him out to be. Y'all just can't accept it.

But he's gone and you could easily move on but choose not to.

I bet it was Derrick Williams who got put to torture chamber by Melo

My first thought was Cleanthony Early and then THJ but my research eliminated them both

This team had no direction before Melo.
This team has no direction right now besides hoping Porzingis stays healthy and learns how to rebound and shoot 50% from FG.

Wrong. The team was going for a big 3 so they gutted the team for Melo. Stupid plan.

Now...they are rebuilding with youth around a potential all star stud.

Instead of trying to come up with witty comments about KP and the Knicks...You should get a dictionary and look up the word direction.

It makes the story better and can see KP doing such a thing, also adds to their special bond, answers "young player", why Melo got excited on winning instead of some scrub, and why Lance didnt name him

Thank you Melo for getting the Knicks back to the playoffs a few times. I'm sorry the front office never had an actual plan for attracting quality FAs. While I wasn't always a fan of your game, I did appreciate your sick talents. Good luck in OKC and future endeavors.

Everyone who says we should trade Lance - should be banned.

An amazing and emotional read, had me tear up a couple times I am not going to lie.

That said I still want to trade Lance.

Why tho?

You need vets on the team!

Lance was always regarded as a good locker room presence.

KP even wanted him signed after 15/16 season.

Last year he was awful - but that mainly because he was always injured..

Noah's a vet.

You want him on the team?

I remember when Dwade and Lebron opted out of their earlier deal after year three and signed deals that made them free agents in 2010. Melo went against LeBron's advice and opted in and made him a free agent in 2011. Imagine if he was a free agent in 2010. Melo would have came, maybe we would have paused on Amare and got CP3 in free agency.

If that lockout didn't threaten to cut player salaries maybe Melo could have waited for free agency. And we used those remaining assets to get a great guard.

I'm glad Melo came. He gave the Knicks sexiness. When on he is a joy to watch. When he's frustrated he can be maddening to watch.

I felt Melo and the Knicks brand were a perfect match. Both iconic entities with major flaws. Both reputations carried by championship pasts but easily critiqued present. Both mishandled by management. Both seeing comparable entities accomplish more. I was hoping together they would win together as they were fighting the same demons. Alas the demons prevail.

I wish him the best. I'm happy for him. I'm happy for the Knicks.

mediocrity and underachieving and losing is not sexy.

No. But he did bring it. There was always a kind of attraction when he was here.

PeoplesChamp wrote:When my season tickets were up for renewal a rep tried to sell me on "If we don't get LeBron, we'll get Melo".

From that moment I knew it wasn't about winning. It was about box office. And from that standpoint, the Melo Era was a success for the franchise. He's a hugely popular player. For reasons I don't know why, his personality never really rubbed me the right way.

They were never going to win because his place on the team was very much like his place on the court. There was not enough shots or cash left for anyone significant after Melo got his. And Melo getting his was first, second and third priority for this franchise.

I'm not faulting him for that. It doesn't make him a bad guy, but once he was here, there was no road to building a good team around him. They were constantly reaching for pricey vets who were nice pieces individually but none of them were difference makers. In hindsight, signing Amare was a bad move, if they were so sure they were getting Melo. Their games weren't going to be a good fit. He didn't fit the coach either.

Hopefully now we have a front office team with Mills & Perry that will have some forethought before they act. Although the Hardaway signing seemed to be a bit impulsive.

Melo always bristled when someone else shined. From Lin to KP, there are moments where you can see where he felt diminished by their spotlight. Players tend to be territorial. It's an alpha trait. He's on Westbrook's team now and will at least initially go along with the program and be a helluva third option. I wish him success.

I wish more success for the Knicks who are entering Rangers territory with this championship drought. 44 years and counting. Looking at least 5 years away from being a serious contender, if they play their cards right with this rebuild.

When did Melo bristle when KP shined?
