He could of said almost anyone else and I may have believed there was some truth to it. But KP?

Your memories are short then.

For starters you can check Melo's reaction when KP hit that game winner against Minnesota that was waved off. In the moment, Melo was not happy...he caught himself though.

You mean against CHA?

Yeah, he looks miserable, immediately throwing his hands up in celebration

And here's how he handled it after it was waived off

A great 3rd option on a putative contender = a great 6th man on a rebuilder.

The question is only ridiculous to a player who is more in love with himself than considering reasonable scenarios or wanting to do whatever it took to win, including coming off the bench, so far as that is warranted/best for the team. Is he more interested in starting than he is in winning, if deepening the bench is required?

I understand he has pride but honestly, does the question have to be laughed off like that.

It's a bad look, and frankly those two clowns are not helping. They all look like idiots. Whatever-- he isn't a Knick so why should Knick fans really care anymore?

you know damn well melo was never coming off the bench. it was a dumb question and this was an even dumber reaction to his response. he's gone, let it go.

Can you explain in simple basketball or human terms why it was a dumb question? My thinking is that there's only one basketball and Melo will be a third option with two guys who had a usage rate of 41.7 and 28.9 last season, while Melo's was at 29.1.

Those are numbers that are going to be very hard to adjust to better balance and equilibrium. And if they can't reach an equilibrium then the prospect of asking Melo to come off the bench becomes a reasonable course of action, especially as his defense is not good at all. And just in case you think I have an anti-Melo bias, I think the prospect of Paul George coming off the bench shouldn't be ruled out either.

That's my explanation behind the question that was asked, which makes it not a dumb question but rather a reasonable and smart one.

So again I ask: why is it a dumb question?

I know. I have no clue how to take it either. It ranges from very offensive and not funny to just not funny. I was wondering whether to take action but I think the shame of having made a bad joke is punishment enough.

battabing really going in on melo. seems like hes more hurt than anything tbh.

anyways... what iwas about to say is this. we have to move on from the number 1 to 3 option mindset. The game doesnt work like that anymore. at least in most cases and especially in the cases of successful teams.

in goldenstate they run plays for everybody its not like, no one can shoot until KD had the ball, san antonio the same, cleveland, etc. all successful teams want the ebst shot they can get, if klay has the first open one or KD doesnt matter.

i can easily see russ and pg look for melo on every play first. Melo is not the one who makes the plays and hes the 3rd best player, i wont argue against that. but talk about 3rd option, 1st option blabla that **** is from the 2000's.

same as olympipc teams, was melo always the 1st option? with kobe, kd, lebron all on the same team? No he wasnt, but still he scored the most points ever, probably took the most shots in that time, etc. you know what i mean?

the terms and order of options doesnt work anymore. because thats not how teams play basketball these days. you have your system with options and in that system there might be some plays that are run for specific players but still.

if you want my honest opinion, i think melo is still the best (skillwise not efficient or anything) and most versatile offensive player on that team and i hope he will show it. even tho hes the 3rd best player he can still be the first guy palymakers will be looking for.
im bout dat action boss

Melo is a good man. out side of the cheating, obviously....i mean a damn skripper....

but he's done a lot for the community and the less forunate, a man who puts his money where his mouth is. God bless him and i wish him the best.

Ryan Anderson apparently was the final straw that got Phil Jackson fired. My guess is that Mills or Dolan's accountants probably took at look at Anderson's contract, choked, and informed Dolan what Jackson was about to do. Once Jackson was gone, deal was dead.

I remember watching it live and thinking it was a tepid response to a game winner.

This is turning into me bashing Melo. Which wasn't my point.
