I expect Tatum to get at least 15-20 minutes to start the season. By season’s end he could be up to 25-30 if he plays well.

Yea, it would be absolutely absurd to not play Tatum a bunch. He could be their third best scorer after Kyrie and Hayward.

given the concerns, but obvious talent, he landed in a good situation.

Jah has the talent to be a very productive big in this league really nothing has changed viewpoint wise since he was drafted. Whats changed is the likelyhood of him ever reaching that ceiling and after last year the floor has gotten much lower.

He just refuses to compete for rebounds and do the little basic things that are required of NBA bigs. Things like setting screens. Running the floor. Providing help defense when required. Getting in motion on offense with screen and rolls. He literally just parks himself in the post and waits for the ball.

I've said it before the guy he reminds me most right now is Eddy Curry. Curry could have been a star in this league but he just didn't care enough to try and play defense and rebound. All he wanted to do was score. That crap may work in college but in the NBA you actually have to try and compete on both ends of the floor.

I also like the Eddy Curry comparison because the Bulls got two firsts for him where is Isiah when you need him

so Keith now says Jah still has knee issues? (though he expects the team to feature him at least prior to the extension deadline.)
man, i hope Embiid has been getting better medical treatment.

He's been on the injury report as having knee soreness every day of camp. It's why he was held out of 5 on 5 on Tuesday and has only been a limited participant other days.

Full participant today! Good to hear. Hopefully this means he can play in the first preseason game.

Okafor has an opportunity to improve his defense, rebounding, and ball movement. Amir could be a good mentor for Jah and Holmes.

I have zero expectations for Jah. In my mind, he has a better chance to be on the 87ers roster than the Sixers. I just don't see how losing weight will fix Jah's true weaknesses with rebounding and instincts on defense.

Oh I think he will initially... just like I am sure it would be absurd that the 76ers wouldn't play Okafor a bunch when first drafted. But if Tatum starts to struggle he is on a team that is expected to make the ECF. They aren't going to give him as much leash to fail if it starts costing them games and he will start racking up those DNF's.

Celtics don't think short term like that. Ainge and Stevens always have a long term view. Celtics want to be playing their best at the end of the season even if it costs them in the beginning.

Celtics no longer have Doc Rivers as the coach who was the opposite.

Very good chance both Brown and Tatum start because it's best for the Celtics long term

Tatum is way, way, way more suited for today's NBA than Jahlil Okafor. I don't think that comparison holds any weight whatsoever.

Brown played like 15 minutes a game last year...

How many players have there been in the history of the NBA who transformed their body quite like that in the early stages of their career? I really think Okafor has had some sort of epiphany... if it helps him to become a better player is still up for debate. But you gotta acknowledge the fact that the guy has realized something needs to happen to salvage his career. He certainly doesn't want to be the next Anthony Bennett. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a solid bench player for us this season, who accepts his role and realizes his strengths and limitations.

If he still can't recognize his weaknesses and limitations at this point in his career, he is doomed for failure.

If Dario doesn't start, he and Okafor could be a good scoring combo off the bench.

Maybe but they would be awful on defense and could give up more points than they score.

He’s 21. Trade him to Boston.
