Westbrook's extension takes him off the table for partnering with Lebron in LA and also makes it more likely Paul George stays.

Wade and Lebron both seem very happy to be playing together again too. Melo is off the table as a banana boat buddy and there are limited guys close enough to Lebron / Rich Paul available.

The Cavs have been listening to offers for the Nets pick since they acquired it. Keeping it in this context seems increasingly dangerous though if there is a trade out there that could make Lebron happy enough to tilt the scales of staying or going.

Maybe the Lakers get left out in the cold again, and Cleveland decides to go for it by trading for a Bledsoe-based package, or someone else close to Lebron inc.

We'd offer Bledsoe + any one of Len/Chandler/Dudley.

We'd also take back a bad contract or two.

Booker, JJ, TJ, Ulis are off the table.

Thanks. That seems light for Cleveland, but if Phoenix would also send out one of the Miami first round picks or other assets that would certainly help.

Presume Shumpert would be going out to make the contracts work, but Cleveland doesn't really have any other bad contracts they'd be looking for relief from (granted Tristan Thompson is a Rich Paul guy), which also makes the #'s tricky.

Len would be the easiest to send off but if the Cavs can't resign him I don't know how much they'd care. If they seriously value Chandler or Dudley they could deal Frye and change but considering they are in luxury tax land already I don't know if adding them moves the needle.

Of course it could end up a 3-way trade where that Miami first or other assets from Phoenix go elsewhere.

Cleveland would be betting on a ton on Bledsoe staying healthy is where I think they'd need some other significant piece to make this happen either way.

Pretty much anybody not named Booker or Jackson I think. We need a PG back, and salaries have to match so maybe Bled+Miami pick for the Nets pick+Shumpert+Felder (and maybe Frye to give Cleveland some cap saving if they want to do that). We tank the hell out of this season, have a very good chance of 2 of the top 6 picks. We take Bagely/Porter/Ayton with our pick, and decide between Doncic/Sexton at 5/6 with the Nets pick.
Cleveland gets the best shot at the tired Warriors in the finals, saves some money this year, and has a better chance of retaining LeBron with his buddy Bled next summer.
Makes sense, so it won't happen.

Eric Bledsoe and a Miami pick, or Eric Bledsoe for the right to swap picks.

Just an FYI, Len can't be traded anywhere without him signing off on it because he's playing under the QO and would be giving up his Bird rights.

I think the rules for trading TJ are pretty complex at the moment as well.

This just in...

Suns’ rookie Josh Jackson jokingly calls Stephen Curry “small and unathletic”

I liked this part...

"Jackson said the player he does want to compare best with is Kawhi Leonard. That’s a good, lofty goal."

Bledsoe and Miami pick is a starting point. They have thomas. They don't need Bledsoe anymore.

Let's say the pick is first overall and we finish with the fifth. Bledsoe and pick could be a starting point. I don't see Cleveland getting hosed for it though

There was a lot of discussion about this yesterday too. In the NBA forum peeps are ripping him for it.

Cleveland has IT, Rose, Calderon, Felder, and Wade. And they still need a pg.

Yeah, its pretty stupid, as they asked him what player in the league he thinks he is the opposite of and he said Curry because Curry is a shooter and he is not.....and Curry is also small and unathletic. So yeah, that would be the opposite of Jackson and isnt wrong.

It was taken completely out of context and Jacksons response on Twitter has been great.

Eric Bledsoe and Chandler plus one of the Miami picks for IT/Shumpert/Frye.

Cleveland gets Bledsoe for the next 2 years on a great Contract (Where IT is looking for a Brinx Truck Deal ASAP). They also get Bledsoe from the start of the season, as opposed to trying to incorporate IT into their team with 3 months left of the season. And of course Lebrons buddy and Rich Paul client. Chandler gives them that veteran defensive Big in the paint to give them depth behind TT.

With Bledsoe they have no need for IT, Shumpert already is the odd man out behind Wade/Smith and Frye is also on his way out too.

I don't think Len is the problem with this idea as much as it's Bled. Whatever the Cavs need, it just can't be a PG. They have IT, Rose and Wade. If those three aren't playing well enough, the answer will not be to add another PG. Cavs should want and need a talented wing or center, if anything.

I don't think there's a scenario where we end up with the BKN pick this season. Nor would I be particularly eager to acquire it. The eastern conference lottery teams could be historically terrible, and the Nets are the only team with no motive to tank. Our own pick could be better. And even with a worse pick, we will have five total, giving us a pretty good shot at striking gold.

... I would like to see the Suns compete for a playoff spot this season, but there are just so many talented teams in the west. The west's 3rd seed added Chris Paul. Its 6th seed added George and Melo. Its 1st seed is arguably the most talented team of all time, and its 2d seed consistently wins more games each season than the Suns have in any season ever (boo). Two of its more talented non-playoff teams added Jimmy Butler and Jeff Teague, and Paul Millsap, respectively. Only one top talent shifted west-to-east, namely, fringe WC all-star and perennial EC all-star, Gordon Hayward. The last 4 playoff spots this year will go to (in my impromptu estimate of the order of probability) MIN, DEN, POR, UTA, LAC, LAL, PHX, NOP, DAL, SAC. I think the only teams with absolutely no chance are DAL and SAC - which makes this a bloodbath. That group includes ALL of the league's FIVE best centers as well as its two most talented power forwards and a high proportion of the league's upcoming talent (because outside of Philly and the Freak, the west has almost all of the league's young talent).

3 Way

Cavs out:
-IT
-Frye
-Shumpert
-Nets pick

Cavs in:
-Bledsoe
-Drummond

Suns out:
-Bledsoe
-Miami pick

Suns in:
-Shump
-Nets pick (option to keep the higher of the Nets/Miami pick)

Pistons out:
-Drummond

Pistons in:
-IT
-Frye
-Miami pick

Suns tank the season away.

Cavs roll out a Bledsoe/Wade/Lebron/Love/Drummond lineup with a deep bench of Rose, Korver, Crowder, and TT. Wow!

Pistons finally dump Drummond and his contract for expiring Frye, a Miami 1st, and the chance to build around IT. Phoenix could also have room to adsorb another bad Pistons contract.

This makes a TON of sense if IT will really miss half the year and the Pistons are ready to move on from Drummond.

I doubt the Cavs look to trade the Nets pick with Bron's future not being solidified, and we'd be hard pressed to put something worthwhile together for the Cavs without including our own pick or getting a 3rd team involved. It'll take more than Bledsoe and pick in the mid-late teens though.

Detroit probably says NO, but I know for a fact that they are pretty unhappy with Drummond. It's not just a rumor.

Detroit fans would LOVE having another Isaiah Thomas and by ditching Drummond and perhaps either Reggie Jackson (let's assume Jackson since I hear they aren't totally happy with him either) or Harris, Detroit would have crazy cap room. They could go small and run and gun.

IT/Bradley would be reunited in the backcourt. Kennard looked decent in summer league
Harris/Leur/Johnson are the wings
Frye becomes the vet leader and stretch 5.

The Suns could even include Len to sweeten the deal. He might play better in the weak east.

Detroit would then have two picks in this draft and cap space. They ditch some hearltess players with big contracts and questionable motivation for a new look.

Regarding JJ's comments, I expect a lot more **** talking throughout the season to be honest. These guys were already getting into it with other players every game, and we just threw in a guy who loves to talk even more **** and get competitive. I expect a lot of hate from other fans, and probably players who will be upset these young guys are trying to punk them.

I just hope they succeed!

I think Josh Jackson's going to have an immediate impact both on and off the floor.

If it's like the second half of the season last year i'll enjoy watching it. Those young guys were fighting hard and there are a lot of competitors on the team which I enjoy watching. Guys like Ulis, Booker, Jackson, Chriss, and Bledsoe are not backing down from anybody.

I would love to get that Nets pick but other than being LeBron's friend, Bledsoe is a bad fit on Cavs. They don't need another ball handler, especially one that don't shot 3s well.

Return to Phoenix Suns
