Preseason GT: Wiz vs. Knicks (10/6 @ 7 pm, MSG-TV)

Post#2 » by HarthorneWingo » Thu Oct 5, 2017 5:53 am

Starting lineup?

Noah
McBuckets
KP
THJ
Frank

I inserted Frank because this is a nice opportunity for him to get a taste of going up against one of the league's best PGs in Wall. The preseason is a good time to get Frank some exposure to them.

It baffles me that Horny is basically using the pre-season as tryouts. As the coach i think you should have your starting lineup sorted out by now. I'm not a fan of the constant shuffling.

Isn't the preseason the time you get to figure out your rotations and lineup? You can't get the same sense at practice than you do at a real game. Nothing matters until the season starts. If he messes with the lineup during the season then it's a problem.

First 3 preseason games - lineup and rotation tinkering
Last 2 preseason games - starting lineup set and most if not all the bench rotation

I'd think this is what it'll be. If Hornacek plays lineup shuffle for all 5 games, it'll be another check in the box in the column "not a good coach"

This season will be a tank, these games are not try-outs, they are tank-outs.

To be fair Horny isn't the only coach that uses the different lineups for the first few games of pre-season. There are a few teams that come in knowing their starting lineup but most have positional battles throughout TC & Pre-Season. For us we know the starting PF & SG for sure and potentially the starting SF since it seems Dougie is starting again (although there are multiple guys that should be considered there) but I don't blame for trying different looks at PG & C. I think Frank will lock up the starting PG with this game especially since he'll get more run w/ Timmy & KP, which should help him. The center spot is tricky, I'd love to see us go with Willy (or to a lesser extent Kanter) and stick with it but I think Horny is trying to find some defense at that spot which is why he's tried out Kyle-O & Noah these first two games.

Willy rebounded great, but he'll get more scoring opportunities off the bench

Jack is done
Beastly showing shades of Melo. Ball holding

Kanter is better than Willy. Sorry folks
Kp is not a center
Lee showing signs of life
McDermott if he could move laterally would be an allstar

Frank is the real deal will be an allstar some day
Thj. Still overly quick on the trigger.

Damn we going to suck... LOL

Keeping it 100% there is no reason to have the Lee, Kuz, LT, Noah, KOQ of the world on this team... these guys have reach their ceiling and max out on their growth... they must go now. The Kanter's, Willy's, Dotson's, Baker's etc... should be playing 25+ minutes a game in preseason.... I bet you Horny has playoffs in mind... SMH. Dumb azz Knicks...

I don't think we should get rid of all the vets. I do agree that the young guys should be getting the brunt of the minutes but unless it's a deal that clearly helps the rebuild I think there's value in keeping a guy like Courtney Lee around to mentor guys. Also to be fair other than Lee the guys that got the most minutes were Hardaway, Kristaps, Beasley, McDermott, Frank, Kanter, Willy, and Dotson in that order. So besides Lee & Beasley the focus was on the young guys in the first game.

Pretty much the +/- from the starting back court is going to get worse before it gets better.
