Is anyone else on here on PD that might know what's going on. It's been down all week.

I am not a member of that board, but I did read that it would be experiencing some down time related to a move to https. Beyond that, I don't really have any info.

By all means, please feel welcome to post and share your thoughts here more until it is back up. And even when it is, of course.

Able is generous to give PD the server space, but this lapse might kill the site if it goes much longer. With Twitter, message boards have lost some steam. I prefer message boards in carrying on a conversation. I might stick around here for awhile even if/when PD gets back up. There are some good guys over there. Some of the mainstays are great people. Some just state something and only respond to their friends. Then there is Grimp. Yeah, I might stay here.

I guess I've had a RealGM account since 01 but it's been ages since I've checked the forums. I still like to check PD a few times per each week but honestly my interest in the NBA has declined since our last ECF team was taken apart so I haven't been that active on PD for the past couple of years. I simply don't enjoy the modern 3 point shootout game with no interior game at all, it's just too soft for my taste. That's why I liked our last ECF teams so much, they were a bit of throwback that proved you can have success playing the game the way I like to watch being played.

The blue collar, gold swagger crew really got my interest in the NBA going again. It makes me very excited to have Lance back. That tough, gritty, slow game they played just looked so much more like the basketball I grew up watching in the 90s than either what we have now or those awful Jim O'Brien teams that looked like they wanted to be the SSOL Suns at times, but didn't have any of he talent to pull it off. I don't honestly enjoy run down the court and Jack up a three offense or flail around the basket hoping to get a call. Our current team gambles in the passing lanes a lot more than I prefer to see

But the NBA goes through phases. Each one seems to be a reaction to what is successful at the time. "Rim protector" was a huge buzzword for awhile. Teams like he Celtics, Bulls, Pacers to some extent changed the way teams around the league played defense, and this more modern brand of offense is a strategy to combat those trends.

Something is going to come up next , and if nothing else I am excited to see what it will be.

Both hosting and domain names are dirt cheap these days, so I'm not all that impressed by able's "generosity." It could more than pay for itself with a single ad. I'd happily take that over years of able's incompetence, not to mention he's an old s.o.b. who's awful as an admin.

I say give him the boot, and restart Pacers Digest anew.

Welcome Pacer Digesters!

Hope you will all stick around for a long time, even after our dear friend is able to bring his site back. :)

I tried to join a while back but to no avail, pretty exclusive club over there.

It's pretty easy to join. When the site gets up again I'll help get you in touch with Able or an admin if you'd like.

I have a feeling PD is going to die. I feel the servers are made of popsicle sticks and bubble gum.

Add me to the chorus of PD members who are getting tired of waiting for the site to come back online. I have no idea what is taking so long. I do know they were upgrading the version of the board software, but that should not be taking this long. As to switching to https, before I retired I did that at my previous work in a day.

I have been a member here for a long time, but have not posted in maybe three years or so. Overall, I miss a number of the posters over there, but I suppose we will see what happens. Anyway, good to still have a place to talk Pacers!

Strange that we joined RealGM at almost the same time. I haven't been on here in ages either.

I know Hicks started the digest and then he turned it over to who? In any case whoever owns the domain should be able to move to another server and host the site.

That would be greatly appreciated. I had an account created, but it said I couldn't post for some odd reason.

Same issue, Jermainevent. You could register, but never post. Just more able incompetence.

I'd put up a post a do the same for anyone who wanted to contribute. I think everyone would welcome some new ideas and I doubt if Able or any admins knew this was an issue. Of course I have no idea when the site will be up again.
