Reddit is your best friend.
NBAHD.Com to watch the full games the next day.
I live in London and live off those two in terms of watching NBA games alongside Ximo for highlights on YouTube.

But paying for Vue isn't really cord cutting. You pay for the internet and vue, which essentially is your new 'cable' bill... So what have you achieved?
At least 40-60 dollars? If I wanted an Internet and cable package that offered the same as Vue, I'd have to pay upwards of $120-140 to cover 2 or 3 TVs. With Vue, I pay 60-70 dollars for internet, and then 45 for Vue, and I can use that on all my TVs. Plus there aren't any contracts or hidden fees where my bill would go up exponentially after the first 12 or 24 months.
Cutting the cord has more to do with cutting yourself from the ridiculous contracts you can get yourself tied to.

But paying for Vue isn't really cord cutting. You pay for the internet and vue, which essentially is your new 'cable' bill... So what have you achieved?
1. Over the top streaming tends to be cheaper than traditional cable providers for similar packages, in part because they are a little more sparse with channels and in part because the market is more competitive and buyers care a lot about price.
2. OTT streaming services allow more a la carte options. Not interested in having all three of CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News? Don't care about ESPN? Feel like you could do without nat geo? Easy for OTT, impossible with traditional cable. Simply not ordering channels you never use can save a lot of money.
3. OTT streaming service providers compete in a much more consumer friendly market. It's really hard to switch cable companies and there are usually at most two or three available per address even if you live in a populous area, and switching can be extensive and inconvenient because you need to install a new line to your house and purchase or rent new equipment, which is why their business strategy is to reel you in on teaser prices and then silently jack up your rates and make "billing mistakes" and "accidentally" sign you up for packages you didn't order and mislead about the actual cost so they can deceptively overcharge you while knowing you have no real alternative but to keep paying for their service. By contrast, OTT services are month to month, you can easily compare and purchase packages knowing what you will be paying, it's free to cancel or switch providers, the equipment can be used with multiple providers, and it takes five minutes on a weekend to switch instead of five hours of waiting at home on a work day. As a result, they are more responsive to consumer demand and cheaper.
It doesn't get you out of paying for internet, but internet can be surprisingly inexpensive compared to paid television if you're willing to accept speeds that support only five ultra high definition video streams instead of fifty. I switched from paying for cable to just internet and sling and ended up saving close to $100 a month on the combined costs of internet and cable, while only losing a small selection of channels I care about, most of which are broadcast over the air so can be replaced with a one time $20 antenna purchase.

Re: Cutting the cord/streaming Celtic games
Great feedback so far, thanks guys.
I'm in Warwick RI, currently have Verizon and no qualms with their services but the rates have gotten out of control over time and I'm beyond the point that I care about anything on regular television besides Celtics games so I'm def. going to dump cable/phone. I'm not opposed to paying for the internet provider or league pass just want to make sure I get a reliable source to watch games and certainly a bonus if I can watch other NBA games as well. Good to know there's so many options available.

Yeah if you are in RI, you are probably blacked out from League Pass Celtic games. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but that's still the biggest issue with League Pass unless you are using a proxy which IMO, is just annoying. I would go with Vue or YouTubeTV (if you can find someone to split with, if not, Vue is the best). Can't remember if Sling offers CSNNE. The great thing is most of these providers have trials so you can try them all out and pick the one you like best.

Just a quick comment that if you go the reddit streaming option, look for acestreams. You have to down load a player capable of playing them (easy to find for free) but they are far and away the best and most reliable streams I have found. I always choose them if available for my Celtics and Patriots viewing pleasure.

I would love to give the NBA my money... but they try their best to resist.
If I'm paying for a team's games, then I don't want just MOST of their games. No diehard fan wants to miss games!
Clearly, the way they sold the rights to the games disregarded this consideration when they setup the contracts. As it is now, the fact that you can't actually get a package of all Celtics games is pretty bad customer experience.

My bill went from $180 a month to $95 a month. Saved about $1000 a year, no contract, and more mobile.

Yep, cord cutting isn't about getting things for free; it's about not getting boned for things you shouldn't be. Yes, you need internet and I have Vue which has been great. Xfinity will come to terms eventually.

He on thing you have to consider. For $35, I get my channels that I want, and, I don't pay for a cable box, he tech feed, regional sports fre and Dvr fee.
Think about eliminating all of that from your bill. And, if you go on vacation for a month, or don't want to watch tv. Cancel. That's it.

Agreed - I wrote them a letter last year saying "I want to give you my money, but I refuse to give Time Warner/Spectrum any more of mine." I hope they will consider ending blackouts the next time they negotiate TV deals.

Not sure they'll be able to in the foreseeable future. Some of these local tv deals have contracts that last for 20 years and other ridiculous lengths.
NBA League Pass just sucks based on their free trial periods. Maybe that overloads their servers or whatever, but MLB's streaming is just so classy and reliable in comparison.

If you have a family member, friend, or anyone that will let you use their cable sign in info, CSNNE.com's live stream is a good quality stream. Plus you can use their sign in info for TNT as well.

Re: Cutting the cord/streaming Celtic games
Reddit as everyone has said just simply has better streams. It's a better quality than League Pass or Vue.
Even skips the commercials and shows you the in stadium entertainment between the stoppages in plays which can be very fun.
I'd consider playing $5 for Vue if they gave a better product.
But between Netflix, Amazon Prime, google.com I can see any show in real time or a replay of it within an hour or two of it's airing. So the only thing I'd used a paid stream for would be sports... to which there are plenty of free options for that.
At this point paying much more than $15 a month is like people trying to get you to pay for the Pony Express instead of just using e-mail. Technology has passed your business by, and it should fade into dust.

Your paying for what you want and a pretty reasonable price. The ridiculous add on fees of cable that have you pushing 200 a month is what cutting the cord is about. If everyone is unwilling to pay for content at all we will eventually have no content.
The other thing to be careful with is that sports video rights is a billion dollar business, much more expensive than the music industry. Stealing music or a movie is a one time event. Repeatedly participating in stealing sports streams puts you a risk for getting tracked and nailed with a nice ridiculous bill.

I haven't paid for TV since 2005, and cable companies can basically suck my fat Irish **** on that.
144 months x $60 a month = $8,640 = a nice vacation with my wife and kids in Australia and NZ this winter.
And we all know it is more than $60 a month!
Thank you, Reddit NBA streams. I pretty much get HD links on demand for everything, all the time. NBA, NFL, UFC, GoT. But oh no, I have to click through some popups in an Incognito window!
And they do shut it down. All the time. And then some foreign dude on Reddit will post a new stream. Maybe I'll have to hit the back button and pick a new stream once or twice a Sunday while watching NFL RedZone. Gadzooks!

If that works for you, fine. I know cheaper options like that exist.
But, I get so much enjoyment out of these games, and a big part of my life, sometimes I want to put them on my big TV and not worry about if the stream is good, shutdown, casting or have to find it.
I don't want to have to worry about a plugin, if browser is working, or if my computer is connected.
At end of day, I want my game at a price I am willing to pay. Comcast and cable companies are great services. But it isn't the subscriptions that kill your bill. It is the add on fees, cable box fees, DVR fee.

Whaaaaaat? Go ahead and try. You can't punish me for watching an illegal stream that someone else hosted. Not like I am going to download it, either.
Just like the record company industry that already got murdered in the digital age, cable companies are scumbags who are a step above the mafia. There will always be digital content, and people profiting from that content. I'm not worried about it.

I think that law is debatable Cave, as someone who is in media. You aren't in jeopardy now. If you downloaded it, then you take possession. If you stream, then it is the streamers issue. That said, the places that facilitate the finding of illegal streams, such as reddit, are going to be held liable, eventually. The message boards will end up killing those links are pay. If fines. That's what will happen when the tv industry decides it is time to do that.
That's coming. Why? Because the people who write the laws are Owned by big media. Once they find a way to enforce it, like music, they will do. Movie and music industry was merciless.
It is coming.

I get 100% of the enjoyment and 95% of the quality at 0% of the price.
Only event I had a hard time streaming in the last several years was Conor-Floyd, and no way was I paying for that clown show.
