What is Molly Knight talking about?

We swept the Cubs in 08 and we swept the Cards in 09.

I had to go back to my office to do some chart notes as I promised my wife as soon as the game was over, but I am glad to have won this game despite all the pitfalls I thought we would be troubled by.

Hill didn't make it past 4.

Maeda needed to step up but Dave didn't keep him in for long

Tony #2 and Tony #1 both were not retained by Dave for more than an out or two.

Morrow and Jansen did have to make the 9 outs, or rather 8 outs plus Field making 1 in between.

despite it all, the heroes of this series so far isn't just Ginger Jesus, but one dark Latino in Puig.... with BA of .556 and OPS 1.445

and don't tell me how smart Dave was to bat him in the 8th hole. you put Puig in the 5th hole and compare what the score would have been. yeah Granderson did get a rubbie but Puig would have gotten two at least in the same situation, if not more.
ehhhhh f it.

Puig Big, Belly Empty

Post#289 » by Ranma » Sun Oct 8, 2017 6:38 am

Neddy was spot on with his call on the bottom half of the order coming up big, but Bellinger's struggles at the plate are concerning me. He's not just missing, but missing badly. His glove at 1B is at least still topnotch, but his at-bats have been a mess. Seager is putting up a good-looking stat line, but he still seems off to me, especially on his swings on the 1st pitch, which he is apt to do.

Closing out, particularly in AZ, is going to be difficult, so I want to give it the respect it actually deserves. Greinke will be on normal rest and trying to avenge a less than stellar WC performance.

I am concerned about Yu’s mental given his last playoff start and given that the ball flies out of AZ’s ball park.

I sincerely hope he pulls a Vicente Padilla ala Game 3 2009 NLCS. That was one of the more pleasant surprises of my lifetime.

Utley is starting on Monday.

Think we need to reconsider that one.

Damn. Was about to praise Cookie but he just loaded the bases after 5 2/3 scoreless.

Interesting to see if Andrew Miller can get the Indians out of this jam.

Dave takes Ranma’s advice and starts Barnes.

My instincts say this is a mistake but let’s see where it goes.

The 2017 POSTSEASON thread.

Post#295 » by Quake Griffin » Mon Oct 9, 2017 11:51 pm

I hope Utley answers the bell.

Going with Utley at this point when you’ve said Forsythe is the better glove out of your own mouth and he’s obviously the hotter bat makes no sense.

Chase is a grown up and a professional. He may hate sitting but I trust him to not make a funk about it.

I have no idea why Dave felt he needed to be in the lineup today.

Edit:
And whatever for Grandy. Hopefully he can build on that hit in Game 2.

Dave's Lineup Card

Barnes's clutch bat and reverse split against right-handed pitching make more sense than Grandal's all-or-nothing approach at the plate, especially with a fully rested and determined Greinke taking the mound.

I'm concerned about Darvish continuing to make progress and implement the strategy and approach the Dodgers' coaching staff have been imploring him to incorporate. I trust Barnes's pitch-calling and ability to handle a pitcher, especially with newcomers. I suspect one of the reasons Kershaw prefers Grandal is that Barnes has his own ideas that stray outside of Clayton's comfortable routine.

Yeah, I'd prefer to see Forsythe go out there, but I can see why Roberts would go with Utley given the lefty-righty splits where Forsythe batted below .200 against righties during the regular season. If that was a concern, then maybe Grandal at C with Barnes at 2B would make more sense even though, as I mentioned, I think Barnes is better for Darvish.

But it was okay for a righty in Game 1????

Either option stated above makes more sense than Utley. I’m more upset that I don’t see the logic behind it and it makes me feel like it’s another gut feeling trusting some vet to be a “gamer” and “professional” when there is someone more capable.

Feels a little McCourt-esque to me.

And this isn’t anti-Utley either. More pro-Forsythe.

Couple more things before 1st pitch.

Being up 2-0 means we aren’t forced to throw Shaw in a potential Game 4.

Second.
I want this sweep REALLY bad. I want Greinke to have an L in the W-L column....not a no decision.

Third, everything about Yu’s start tonight scares me...literally...EVERYTHING.

LETS GO GET THIS SWEEP!!!!!111

Greinke struggling early.

If anyone can get themselves out of this, it’s him.

Come on Turner!

Horrible 1-1 call forced Turner into a 2 strike approach.
