October- getting started

Post#1 » by jambalaya » Sun Oct 8, 2017 8:36 pm

Thunder have more shooting & passing but also more holding & dribbling. Which will show more?

Grant as back up 5? Could have good moments and terrible ones. May be Patterson when he gets back.

Will team hustle on D, especially transition D? I have some concerns about the jog backers influencing others.

George was basically healthy last season and except for scoring it was his worst season since his rookie season by a number of metrics. It was one of the worst seasons for Melo, which was below league average, except for scoring. A lot of folks expecting better, but how much better?

Thunder went from 7th best on FT% with Durant to 26% without. probably improves, hopefully a lot.

Fouling rate was real high last season. If they want to go far, they need more discipline & wisdom with this.

If I am reading it right, Ferguson curently has the lowest simple efficiency mark in the pre-season for players who got more than 25 minutes. https://stats.nba.com/leaders/?StatCategory=EFF&Season=2017-18&SeasonType=Pre%20Season&CF=MIN*GE*25 Basically inline with what he did in Australia.

In regards to Ferguson, it's preseason and he's a rookie. We knew he was going to be a project. I wouldn't be too concerned. He's the 3rd SG on this team. Maybe the 4th. And he's 19. He's showing good energy on both ends of the floor and he's being aggressiveness. That's what you want to see out of a rookie. The shooting will come and the game will slow down for him in time.

In my above post I meant 26th (5th worst) place on fouling, not 26%.

Ferguson is a project. You expect effort & flashes. Just checking the results. Plenty of time til it really matters; but in the end overall impact and that trend is important.
