This was going to happen. Glad it's done... we could've held off until next year, but it's important to keep the big fella happy.

Curious to know the protection details.

absolutely. beneficial for both sides. and it sends a clear message to the rest of the league - philly is commited

This isn’t confusing. We signed him now because he was willing to accept a contract supposedly laced with protections/incentives. If we waited and he stayed healthy then he’d be less inclined to sign such a contract, also another team could just offer him a contract without so many and pry him away. It’s a risk for both parties.

As expected.

Sounds like the creative nuance of this contract would even make Sam Hinkie proud. Good job, Bryan.

Needs to make sure he gets paid before his body completely breaks down. Can always demand a trade later.

Just got off the phone with Embiid, he told me money is important, but the most important thing is playing for the best basketball fan base in the country and staying with the team that will win multiple NBA titles over the next decade.

As long as we are protected in case of injury I'm happy. Doing this know with protections requires sacrifices on both sides because he'll likely get more now had he gotten injured then sought an extension but if he is healthy this year and injured later on he probably is leaving money on the table where there would be no protection (he'd get a st8 max deal).

Waiting for the details.

DzzAM, the max. Giannis should fire his agent immediately.

Giannis himself left money on the table to sign more/better players besides him.
The Bucks wouldn't care less if he had signed for 5 years instead of 4 though.

Huge news for your team guys! Can't wait for more details since we are in a similar situation with Jabari right now.
Jabari's agent could ask for the max(more money than Giannis ..) and although we won't bet the whole franchice on his health we will literally make Giannis' job impossible in case of another JP acl tear.

Good Luck!

Devil is in the details. Need to see the fine print before I have a take on this.

Nothing more to say. He's worth it. The fact that it's laced with protections and has a chance to be only 50% guaranteed is icing on the cake. Paying him> Andrew Wiggins

Also IMO this pretty much confirms Eskins report about him and his agent.

You know that Colangelo told Brown that Embiid's not going to see the court tonight. Could you imagine settling on that deal and Embiid goes out there and gets injured in the preseason?

If that happened before the contract was officially signed, Collar answers the next call from Embiid's agent with the classic "new phone, who dis?"

Im still high off that 8th inning at Wrigley. Don't know how to "process" this until I know more details.

Exactly. This deal has got decent protections against it otherwise we wouldn't have done it now.

Other teams can laugh and say how shocked they are that he got this size contract, but they would all be literally tripping over each other to get a sniff at getting Embiid.

A bargain IMO considering the stipulations of the deal. I wonder what Snoop and Mik think?
