best lineups for winning 2017

Post#1 » by vic » Tue Oct 10, 2017 3:52 pm

Sorry, but defense wins...
I don't think SVG is going to keep Bullock or Tolliver off the floor.
I'd love to see Ellenson & Luke more this year, but Tolliver & Bullock are looking too good on D&3 to make them sit. Ellenson & Luke dribble better but that's about it. Defense, 3 point shooting and passing give Bullock & Tolliver the edge.

I see SVG going with an 11 man rotation with Luke and Boban falling out of the rotation at playoff time unless there are injuries.

RJ/Ish
AB/Bullock/Luke
SJ/Harris/Bullock
Harris/Leuer/Tolliver
Drummond/Boban/Leuer

Tolliver/Leuer at 4/5 for small ball/tough games.

IF IT WERE UP TO ME, Harris would strictly play the 4, and Leuer would be the primary backup C. Boban would play situationally. Ellenson would play when one of the bigs got injured.

RJ/Ish
AB/Luke
SJ/Bullock
Harris/Tolliver
Drummond/Leuer/Boban

All being said: with AB at the 2, SJ starting, Tolliver back, and Bullock healthy, overall defense will make the Pistons a much better team this year.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Minutes breakdown?

I usually go with 10 - 11 just leaves dudes with too few minutes.

IMO:

Dre 32
Tobias 30
AB 30
SJ 28
RJ 26
Jon 24
Ish 22

I think all those guesses for minutes are reasonably close.

That leaves 48 minutes available for everyone else.

How SVG breaks it down will be interesting

i think bullock will get more minutes at the 3 than the 2 so i didn't answer the kennard/bullock question. i think kennard will play ahead of galloway at the 2.

voted for AT over ellenson and leuer over boban.

I think that's ideal. I'd much rather keep Harris at the 4, Bullock backup 3, Luke backup 2

Yeah the poll is bad on the SG position. Change it and ill vote!(of course you could put bag if chips or Galloway and Galloway will still lose)

Return to Detroit Pistons
