The Steelers

Post#1 » by RavenMad31 » Wed Oct 11, 2017 3:20 pm

For all the stupidity and drama queen nonsense coming from Pittsburgh, do any of you have any doubt in the world that they'll run off five or six games in the last half of the season, look like a fashionably hot team going into the playoffs and then lose to a better team?
Or is there more to all of this?

I dunno, things seem to be unraveling really fast there, at least offensively. Defensively, they look great.

Ben is constantly hinting at retirement
LeVeon is still great but clearly working out of a hole from not being there in TC/preseason
Brown is complaining about touches because of one game where he only got 9 targets (has 64 through 5 games)
Martavis Bryant cant connect w/Ben at all
Their OL is looking spotty at best

I dunno.. this team has real fallout potential right now. Lot of quality vets so I wouldnt bet against them yet, but it seems the team dynamic has changed, and we're looking at a defense first team that has offensive explosiveness but is inconsistent. They aren't even scoring 20 points per game, which is crazy low for them - the past 4 years they've never dipped below 24ppg.

I think when they finally give the #2 role to Juju, demote Bryant to the deep threat only that he's destined to be, and give Conner enough work to keep Bell fresh, the offense will rebound enough to make them a threat to anyone in the AFC. But that window is closing rapidly, and they'd be wise to draft a 1st round QB in the offseason, because Ben is getting close to being done

the steelers are a fractured team. the anthem protest was a disaster, Bell held out for a contract, big ben is a old school dude who doesnt like the antics of guys like AB, players questioning the playcalling, etc etc. Tomlin has lost the lockerroom imo.

Every year they're hyped up as contenders, and every year they prove to be pretenders. Tired of hearing about them every year as if they've proven anything in almost a decade.

there is a lot of talent there but something does seem off, could unravel just as easily as they get it under control i guess

maybe something happens where a switch gets flips and they all get on the same page for a while

This is kind of what I'm hoping for. I didn't think I could hate a Steelers team more than the '00s version, but this bunch is obnoxious and kind of dumb.

I defer to Steeler fans I know who seem to agree that there is "something" wrong with this team. Thing is - the AFC North isn't a juggernaut. Flacco is awful, the Bengals are just not a team anyone looks at with any level of trust and the Browns are the Browns. It's hard for me to see the Steelers not winning this division but it's also hard for me to see them advancing out of whatever first-round matchup they have. There is definitely an ill wind blowing up there.

No teams in the nfl look like they couldn't win a game at any time against 20 or so teams. There are some with more consistency like KC or Philly but this has to be one of the only times that through six weeks all but two teams had at least 2 losses.

I'm assuming that decisive win at home against the sub-.500 Bengals yesterday got you revved up?

I normally don't place a lot of value on WRs when allotting free agent money or spending draft picks, but yesterday, his WRs were Michael Campanaro, Griff Whalen and Chris Moore. I'll say that again. Michael Campanaro, Griff Whalen and Chris Moore. I don't even know who the hell two of those guys are. I do know Campanaro and I know he's nothing more than a C-list kick returner.

Kinda hard to argue with you on that one. A serious list of "guys named Herb" right there.

Ravens signed Gavin Escobar.

I know who he is. I'm sorry. He's no Michael Campanaro.
