Also, if you haven't listened to the podcast 'The Dollup'. Do so.

Like yeah, we get it. You guys like the show because it presents complex science-fiction ideas and compresses it into easily digestible comedy in internet-meme form. And it helps you cope with your depression.....cool. It doesn't make you some deep-thinking philosopher.
I'd like to hope three sentences isn't what counts as going deep on a complex social issue these days.
I'm certainly not defending this group of people, but you're take is a bad one. "People act like annoying idiots because they're annoying idiots" isn't much of a thesis. And your dismissive and crass remarks are actively harmful if you're goal is to do anything other than feel smugly superior yourself.

What is my goal other than to call out people that I see being obnoxious about something? I'm a fan of the show personally but it's never a good thing when a vocal minority hijacks something and makes the rest of the fanbase look bad. I think you took what I said way too far.

One of my absolute favorites.

You're "simple answer" warranted an eyeroll, but you're sweeping remark about depression was potentially harmful. I think it was meant as a joke, but it was a bad one.

Joking about depression is kind of how some people, ya know.....cope with depression. That's basically the point of comedy for a lot of people, and the show itself delves into this in numerous episodes. I don't know how you took that as me making fun of people who are clinically depressed, but that off-hand comment wasn't really the point of my post, so whatevs.

I don't think I've disliked a movie as much as I did Wind River since the Chun Li Street Fighter abomination.

The original Street Fighter is in my top 5 favorite movies of mine of all time. Anyone who thinks Mortal Kombat the movie is better than the Street Fighter movie should put in prison.

I loved Wind River, I enjoy getting a story away from technology. Renner was great, there were some touching scenes with his brother in law...end seemed a bit rushed , reminded me a bit of a Mystic River type tone.

Spoiler:
I went in thinking I was gonna add this one to my favorites and it ended up being amazingly terrible.

Extremely satisfying ep of Mr Robot. The ending Angela sequence was beautiful.

I think it's a stretch to call those security guys "professional." I bought their behavior, and Olsen's character was up there for training. She was probably planning on being indoors most of her time there. I really liked "Wind River" because I thought the world felt fully lived in - the sense of place and supporting cast was fantastic. To me it's much more of a mood piece than any sort of murder mystery movie. That was all secondary to me.

Agree, movie touched me more than most.
DB watches all those CW super hero shows and rips on this for being unrealistic.

Its an old episode but the one about the 1904 Olympics is outstanding and a must listen.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I haven't listened to that one as of yet. I'll make a point to!
I recently listened to 'The Whiskey Rebellion' and 'Opium in America: Parts 1 and 2' (Unreal. Utterly unreal look at opium, heroine, morphine, laudenum and other pharmaceutically approved heroines from the Civil War era to modern day Phentenol. Just shocking revelation after shocking revelation) Cursory, I listened to 'Dope Lake' and 'Bunion Derby' ( one about the senator-sponsored s***tshow of the first continental foot race. Must listen in my book).
The show, imho, is a fine example of an effective means of sharing some of the sordid underbelly of our country's history. Their improvisatory comedic interludes are f'ng hilarious.
EDIT: I should also add, Dan Carlin's "Hardcore History" is a history podcast from a non-historian but passionate and educated scholar about various historical events. If you are into a more serious, widely-represented, fascinating deep-dive into history...this is must-listen. His WW1 piece is so engaging and fascinating. As is his piece on the first Cuban/American conflict (pre-WWI) and the ensuing Phillipine guerilla warfare experience for America's young colonial military.
