Who is our Core? (2017)

Post#1 » by DET_Athletics » Sat Oct 7, 2017 9:17 pm

who would you say is our core?

For me, our core is : (ish, bradley, SJ, Tobias, Dre, Ellenson, Kernard)

Players I like but are not core material: (Reggie)

Players that need to go: (Leuer, Boban)

I think we are two core guys short of taking over the east, and yes this is early but just the way I am looking at it. if we had a health Reggie, like the Reggie that played before he blew his knee out then all we would be missing in a PF that could spread the floor and block shots at a Sub-AllStar level. but what are your thoughts? and the only reason I have Leuer on the block is that Henry is trending up, and best to sell high on a player you don't need before their playing time and value get cut down.

SJ, luke, henry, tobias and ish ( Not sold on bradley signing with us)
Also dont agree Boban needs to go, he's perfect in the back up role.

Nets laugh at us as those are actually decent players and they throw in a pick. Although I would take Ish over Lin but Rondae is a lot more valuable then Leuer.

Not sure we really have a core as this team could all be sold come deadline time if we a underperforming. But I guess I could see it as Drummond, Bradley, Kennard, Ellenson, Johnson and Harris.

Reggie needs to go. at this point it'd be addition by subtraction. We might have another josh smith on our hands.

That's my core. The rest can go in a trade to get us a 5th top 100 player. We've got 4 now. If RJ gets his health right, he'll be our top player. I'm optimistic :)

"That's my core. The rest can go in a trade to get us a 5th top 100 player. We've got 4 now. "

First - that's basically average. Top 100 is pretty close to top 4 per team in a 30 team league.

Second - top 100 doesn't really cut it when the contenders are all sporting multiple top-10 guys.

As far as core goes, I guess that depends on what you mean by core. There is nobody on this roster I am 100% sure is even going to be here next year. We don't really have a group you can say for certain we are building with. If we aren't in the thick of the playoff hunt by the trade deadline, anyone and everyone will be on the table.

SVG probably views the core as Reggie, Drummond, AB and Harris. Then again, he shopped Reggie and Dre pretty publicly last season.

I think SVG knows this roster is really flawed, and while the team lacks anything resembling "star talent", the biggest problem is the personalities in the locker room. I think SVG is really hoping Avery Bradley and Tolliver bring some much needed maturity to the locker room.

In my opinion, there isn't any core players on this team. I think the chances are very high AB leaves this summer. And, he's the only player I think can start on a 50+ win team.

I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but any list which includes Reggie Jackson is severely flawed. I am betting on him not being on the roster for the 2018-2019 season. Although, I don't feel anyone is secure. AB could take his career in his own hands and bolt the hell out of this forsaken franchise. However, for now - - - - Bradley, Drummond, Harris, Smith and Johnson seem to be at the top of the pecking order.

I don't think SVG views any of our guys as core pieces.

We're not at that point yet where we're adding to a core...We're still trying to work out what kinda team we wanna be!

This season SVG claims he wants to be a elite defensive team. If that's always been the goal then WTF?

And why draft Henry & Kennard - where it's known they've got issues on D!

Last year I would have thought that KCP was the most cemented member of our core but look where he is now.

Its probably Dre just because he makes so much money and he can't be moved. If we could get a good future piece for anyone on our team I'd probably be willing to move just about anyone.

This is the question that teams are working out all the time. KCP was a member of our core, but he didn't really want to be. Some will say who can blame him, but it's not like he was denied opportunity. If RJ can maintain reasonable health he could be. If Drummond can find some mature 'edge' to his game, he can be. SJ is going to get his chance to show it. What does Bradley truly want? In the right system, Kennard is an intriguing player. Why we watch.

If KCP is no longer here, then I think you can safely say no one is a "core" member of this team for the long term. On top of SVG shopping both RJ and Dre last season, literally no one is safe.

But if I had it my way, I really like AB and Tobias. I've always liked Tobias so he's safe with me. Just two guys that work hard and actually care.

My dream scenario would be for LAC to suck this year and blow it up. We trade something like Harris/Leuer/Ellenson/2018 1st for Blake Griffin

Jackson
Bradley
Johnson
Griffin
Drummond

This is the type of trade we need to be looking for imo

I'm not ready to give up on Ellenson yet. Leuer/2018 first for a McChicken

I understand why people wouldn't want to give up on guys like Ellenson, Kennard, even Harris, etc. but if we want to bring in an allstar it's going to cost something. As much as people like Ellenson I could definitely see him included in a trade that brings back an upgrade at PF, especially considering that is the position Ellenson plays and we also have a logjam there. Unfortunately, its mostly a logjam of crap lol
