Sorry but I find Nerlens has subpar performance in this year’s preseason. Maybe he wants out?

I don't know why some draft scouts were so down on Frank Mason. He looks like he belongs in the league. He's playing pretty well in the pre-season.

ISO scoring has been getting bad rep. Maybe because the guys are good at it are ball stoppers. But I do think the value of ISO scoring will rise as teams starts to switch heavy on screen plays.

Top teams are slowly adding these type of players like Rose, Wade, Kyrie, Tatum, Gay and Durant. Or maybe its just coincidence..

Anyway for our team, Biid, Fultz and Simmons should be good ISO players for their positions.

On the surface level, having players that can beat defenses and score buckets off their ability, alone, is an incredible benefit.

I think the problem is that a lot of these (meaning ISO guys in general) players lack discretion and have horrible shot selection. Also, their energy expenditure is often one-sided, making them highly flawed defensive players.

Warriors, Spurs and Celtics are bottom five in isolation frequency. They've had good iso players play within a tight offensive scheme in the past. Adding Durant didn't change the way the Warriors play. I doubt swapping I.T. for Kyrie and adding Tatum is going to change Boston. There's no way in hell Rudy Gay is going to change the way the Spurs play.

I haven't look at the numbers.

But seems most teams just slack off on defense or maybe facing non-playoff teams' defense half the team in the regular season that playing PnR and dribble drive are the more optimal way in offense.

While in the play-offs, teams would switch every screens, exert more effort on rotations while refs allow more physical play that teams would need good ISO scorers to keep up with the scoring. Oh and the NBA loves the storyline of a star player going catchy scoring numbers in the play-offs.

I mean, you'd need a good base of modern offense (PnR with very good 3pt shooting) then when denied more times in the play-offs, have a reliable iso scoring. While in regular season, seems you need not rely much on ISO scoring because most times a good modern offense should be good enough.

Talking about the Warriors, my gut feel is this. If you watch the first time Cavs-GSW meet, they'd switch off every screen and make it an ISO contest between LBJ and Curry. I dont think Curry is THAT good enough as an ISO scorer against bigger defenders (shooting over mobile bigs like tristan), that made them want to get KD (except for the more obvious reason like he's great).

Curry-KD PnR is almost impossible to defend. If you watch the clips, its one of the few things GSW run when they acquired KD. KD against Kyrie and LBJ over Curry, that's a favorable match-up for the Warriors. Rather than LBJ over Curry and Curry over Tristan.

With the Celts, yeah I think they'd still stick with their very good offensive system. But when play-offs come, Celts is betting to switch screens. Set the stage for a Hayward-IT match-up via a Hayward-Kyrie PnR or Kyrie-IT match-up. Either match-up should be as potent as LBJ-Kyrie.

Simmons showed he can post smaller defenders like Winslow.

Okafor gave him a perfect pass for an easy dunk.
Embiid did the same pass, Simmons gets good position.

Embiid showed how easily teams should be in foul trouble, Whiteside benched in 5 mins.
Having a scoring big of the bench, like Okafor, could be a challenge for teams with only small centers, like Tristan or Love.

It’s good that Boston feels the need to justify those draft picks.

Yeah, I'm kinda feeling the same way.

Marcus Smart and Marcus Morris are proven plus performers. Jaylen Brown is coming off a negative value rookie season and Jayson Tatum isn't likely to fair much better during his.

If 2/5s of your starting line-up is made up of insufficient players, you're going to struggle to come out of the gate strong. Isn't this a team competing directly with Cleveland for the Eastern crown?

Btw, Smart lost weight and looked good the other day. I expect him to have a good season this year.

I wish we could have snagged him for Noel last year. I think the Celtics would be better if they had made that deal too.

Very interested to see how Stevens deals with Embiid. Seems like Horford is going to almost have to deal with him one on one. If Embiid draws two early fouls on Horford it could throw their whole rotation out of whack.

Wonder if that's the lineup for the Cavs and Bucks but then they swap Baynes in for Brown or Tatum on Friday.

IMO we throw Baynes Thies and Semi and maybe Yab at him as bodies
Thies is a great defender but a little undersized Barnes is our best option but foul prone and Semi imo could surprise on defense with his immense strength and keep embied out of the paint .... but he would be giving up a lot of height but I’m ok with Embied taking jumpers over semi than him getting to the paint at will
Bet with Stillwater Celtics will finish 6th or higher in ECF Standings Regular Season(17-18). [WON]

I really hope Semi Ojeleye is the guy defending Embiid when we play the Celtics. It will be nice to watch his first 50+ point game.

Okafor would have a size advantage, too. Sixers have 2 big, scoring centers that should be able to get other teams in foul trouble, quickly.

Definitely has the size advantage, the difference would be Okafor giving up 50 points to Ojeleye.

Or maybe he just fits in with Morris out, and Cleveland playing small??

We knew he was immature, but he must really be difficult to deal with if they're willing to punt on him this quickly. Even if they were unhappy with the development of his game, teams usually hang onto young players for a reasonable amount of time before they give up on them.

Had so many arguments over analytics, eye tests and Wade Baldwin. Gonna collect on a few bets. Looked like hot garbage every single time I've ever seen him play.

Might make a new account on LB to go collect. Sike. Lol. I wonder if its still Donotwante Murray over there?
