What I don't really understand as an outsider is why there is so much complaining about these athletes disrespecting their country when the President himself had a campaign and slogan which was basically saying that America ain't **** and needs to be made great again.

If I had to guess, there's probably no one on this board that relies on welfare. However, even if they do, you or I have no understanding of the context in which they arrived in their current situation. Having said that, wouldn't Trump's promise to bring back jobs in dead industries be considered a form of welfare? Coal is dead, human manufacturing jobs are obsolete, yet Trump campaigned on the concept of bringing back those jobs for displaced workers in rural areas. Their skillsets are useless now, and they are unwilling or unable to change, why should they get a handout? Why pay a person when you can get a robot to do the same job at far less cost? Have you or anyone you know ever had a federal student loan? That's a government handout in essence. Sure, there are people abuse that the welfare system, but people abuse every system. A successful business man filing his taxes with a bunch of bull **** depreciation to lower his taxable income is abusing the system. He's essentially lying to the government to put more money in his pockets. Is that so different from someone who receives welfare and works under the table?

He knows what he doesn't know, or at least that he doesn't know much. He's too narcissistic to acknowledge it.
