we dont know if he is a better leader yet. And he is very inefficient and extremely bad at 3 pt shots. extremely, extremely bad.
How? His career % is 32%.
Nothing extremely bad about that at all, sorry.
sample size of his shooting before last season is below 50 attemps. ( 18-47 ). He is 15-40 from 3 in playoffs. Overall he took just bit over 200 threes in his nba career. There is no much reason to belive he will be much better than 30-32% for 3, and given that nba average for 3 is around 35,5% it makes him below average shooter.
also to say that his "passing ability is top notch" is pretty biased toward one game that he had in preseason. In same preseason, in first 3 games he had grand total of 1 assist- combined. His last season numbers in assists are average. ( 1,6 assist in 18 mpg on elite ball moving team )
I like Simmons, i belive he can be solid role player, but with all data we have , it's pretty clear that Oladipo is better player. True question is would you prefer Simmons on his salary over Dipo on his.
I never said his passing ability was top notch.
I am simply showing that the DATA on Simmons shows that he has shot 38% from 3 in a season. A small samples size, yes - just like your example. Additionally, you lean on data too much. Guys can get better at shooting 3s.You made this same argument already about AG and that so far this preseason has blown up in your face
Additionally, Simmons is a better defender than Oladipo. It's not pretty clear at all that Oladipo is a better player to me. I would put them in a similar tier, but I much prefer Simmon's game so far. He has much more intensity and IQ on defense and while his offensive game is not super efficient, I see how he can improve there. Oladipo still has the same poor shot release, still can't make layups and still makes poor decisions on defense.
