Fortunate to see him early on and then again in July at Summerfest. Big big loss. :(

I saw it mentioned somewhere yesterday so I watched i last night, but there's a good documentary on Netflix about Petty. If you're a fan it's worth watching, it's about 4 hours but worth it. Biggest takeaway for me, I suppose I already knew but this just reiterated, was just how talented of a songwriter he was, how much other people went to him for help and how respected he was in the community for it. That along with how easily he seemed to get along with so many other big time musicians while also sticking loyal to his guys from the beginnings, must have been just a good guy overall

The Courtney Barnett-Kurt Vile collabo is short on surprises, but is as Good as one would expect. Comfort food on wax.

Saw Arcade Fire for the 4th time last night. Good show as always, but the entire upper deck and club level was closed (to be fair, they had more floor/GA attendance than most concerts would due to nature of their stage). Heard this was the case at a lot of other shows on this tour. Saw them 3 years ago at a nearly packed arena.

They fired their manager last week. I’m wondering if the firing is because they wanted to go MORE in this direction or they felt steered the wrong way. I didn’t like the new album and wonder how much that played into the trash attendance. Apparently the marketing for the album was also not great.

Yeah. No matter when I go, Wake Up, Power Out, and Rebellion get me every time. They've moved Rebellion up much earlier in the setlist these days.

Rolling Stone's Top 50 Pop Punk Albums of All-Time

I have thoughts and I'm trying to work my way through them. But maybe more than anything else is the spectrum. I can't believe the bands that are getting lumped together.

yeah, im not sure how stiff little fingers gets put on this list and about 10000 other bands (that would dominate this entire list) get left off.

this is a truly awful list, that makes zero sense.

Stiff Little Fingers are great, but they don't belong here. I would say the Rezillos and Descendants make sense among the older bands, as would both "Kids Don't Follow" and "Sorry Ma" by The Replacements. There should be a whole grip of records from Lookout! and I don't get why there aren't.

And can Boris The Sprinkler live? Just a little bit? "Sheena's Got a Microwave Now" needs to be recognized. There should be a heroic statue of the good Rev Norb alongside Jean Nicolet in Green Bay.

And point the second, the soundtrack to "Josie and the Pussycats" should be on here and I am not even lying.

ALL makes the list, and descendents dont? its the same **** band!

picked one of the worst bad religion records, and i dont think bad religion belongs on this list.

hard to draw a line i suppose, but whatever lines they tried to draw zig and zag here.

i dont even know how to attack this list for leaving things off, because i cant figure out what belongs.

This is the big problem with the list. You fall down a rabbit hole of "Well if X made it how the hell is Y not on there?" I mean, how can you make a top 50 pop punk bands list and leave out Thrice, Strung Out, No Use for a Name, Glassjaw, Mineral, Jack's Mannequin, The Bronx, The Movielife, Sugarcult, The All-American Rejects, Avenged Sevenfold, Avril Lavigne, Goldfinger, Midtown, Transplants, Gob, Brand New, My Chemical Romance, Finch, Damone, Dead Kennedys, Saosin, Story of the Year, The Donnas, Good Riddance, Senses Fail, Matchbook Romance, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Thursday, Say Anything, Something Corporate, Straylight Run, Taking Back Sunday, Unwritten Law, The Used, and The Vandals?
