I will shoot somebody if we trade Pie for another underachieving catcher.

id be somewhat shocked if it happened as a rangers fan and could only really see it if we trade for saltalamacchia.

but laird is a top defensive catcher in the game (best at throwing runners out in the AL) and he's suprisingly fast for a catcher (8 bunt hits) id bet he'd be better suited for the NL.

plus the rangers have been looking for a franchis CF for a number of years.

I'd be ecstatic if this deal were to go through. I'd assume the reliever they'd be targeting would either be CJ Wilson or Ron Mahay, but I'm just not convinced the Rangers are ready to let go of Wilson, and would rather keep him than any other reliever on the roster.

As for Laird, like studcracker said, he'd be a much better fit for the NL. He's a very good defensive catcher, who throws out baserunners at a high rate and is very good moving runners over and helping NL teams produce runs methodically.

Pie is Hendry's baby though, I really can't see him dealing him unless it was in a trade of epic proportions (think A-Rod).

They've been developing him since he was 17, and to just toss him to any team right now would be a huge mistake IMO. He's ready to play everyday and should be...for the Cubs.

We already gave you Gary Matthews Jr, and you saw how well that turned out.

Jim Hendry is out of his fat ass mind if he would do this.

I don't think triple chinned Jimbo would do it though. He has a huge hard on for Pie.

Jim Hendry would be lynched by me personally if this went down.

Laird freaking sucks.. Why the **** are we still looking for a catcher? Trading for 2 mid season is not enough? Ridiculous.

Note to Jim: Put the donut down & don't do anything stupid.

I like Laird and the way he plays, but I don't think he would help us much. I would rather keep our team the way it is right now, than making this trade.

Patterson is blossoming? He has a .684 OPS. All he can do is steal bases.
