Foiled Again in 1st Inning

Post#881 » by Ranma » Wed Oct 18, 2017 1:18 am

I heard the Cubs were aiming to launch the ball in batting practice and Darvish gives up a homer to Schwarber. Hopefully, this is not a sign of Yu reverting back to his previous form given his known vulnerability in the opening frame. We got to keep the Cubs from having confidence with the bat, so we need to rebound quickly.

Ethier Ties Game with Solo HR

Post#885 » by Ranma » Wed Oct 18, 2017 1:27 am

Looks like Roberts knew what he was doing by inserting Ethier in the lineup and batting him 5th in the order. With Puig just missing a home run and Utley sending one deep for an out, our bats are showing lively signs of encouragement.

Dont like Ethier 5th or stacked with Utley but we’ll adjust when they bring in a lefty.

Utley looked foolish in his pinch hit appearance. I’m nlt sure him being a lefty makes him a better matchup against righties than Forsythe.

It's working so far. Hopefully, we can keep it up.

when I found out the lineup from your old post, I was really excited. this lineup is a RHP killer.

although Barnes over Grandal leaves some room for power against RHP...

well? despite the shaky start, Yu has only thrown 15 pitches so far with 14 strikes. hope he is settled down and good for at least this inning.

end of 2nd, 25 pitch count, turning the lineup over for the third. I like Yu's aggressiveness so far.

Our new starting SS gives us the lead with a solo shot to CF.

CT3 happens. 2-1 lead now.

I just got to rub that in to my hygienist who is a diehard Mariner fan. I still can't believe we got him for nothing aka Zach Lee.

if Andre keeps hitting at least against RHP this post season, I guess it is only matter of time before we all start debating whether or not it is wise to offer him a QO.

That's the thing about this front office and developmental staff that was missing under the Logan White regime. We go after young toolsy players as projects who are under-valued because of their bats and develop them up. Obviously, not everyone will hit, but when they do, the payoff is usually big. I noticed we've been drafting a few similarly profiled players in recent drafts under Billy Gasparino's watch, which I've given him credit for from the very beginning.

I still think Logan was better than average at spotting talent, but I do agree in terms of developing them, we have been struggling during McCourt's era. but is it really our staff's fault or more of Frank the MoFo pulling out the rug under our own staff? he was cutting scouts left and right, and giving up entirely on international scouting. at one point we had regional scouts covering dozen states alone. I can't imagine just what kind of cut rate coaches he had hired that were in charge of talent development in the minors in those days.

No way, Jose. I know it's a joke but I don't even want to think about doing that, especially since the organization declined its team option in order to buy him out of 2018 that would have practically equalled the qualifying offer.

I thought so too, but the TBS announcers were factoring the wind and noting that Joc was playing deep in CF. Pederson's defense seems to have appreciably declined this season, so the move to LF has made sense during this season.

correctomundo. no team will offer him anything close, thus that QO will go without a pick in the end. perhaps we could offer him something like 2 to 5 million per year to be a primary LH pinch hitter, but he will decline and probably look for a starting job, if not retire.

hey but for right now he is a dodger, and I am 100% behind him.
