Breaking Out the Boom Stick
Neddy wrote:I aint even mad Puig made that out. we are up by 5 runs and it was worth the try. it was close, and KS made a very good throw.
I concur. The hard bounce off the brick, ivy wall helped the throw to erase Puig at 2B. Yasiel has been crushing it; that single may only be the 10th hardest hit ball of the night but he has 3 of the top 10 hardest hit balls tonight including the top 2.

Yasiel Puig is our best hitter... Let that one sink in a bit...
I've been a huge fan for forever, but even I never thought that would happen.

Re: The 2017 POSTSEASON thread.
is Avila really the next batter? I know they only have him as the back up catcher, but with La Stella still available with no more innings left to go, I think Joe is being dumb to let Al's kid swing away here. if they can tie, then worry about who's gonna catch.
ehhhhh f it.

come on Kenley, consider the runners invisible. they can't hurt you but only the batters who have not come in to the batters box yet.

I'm not going to fault Roberts for going to Stripling with a 5-run lead. Then again, I didn't think he belonged on the postseason roster to begin with. Dude is throwing batting practice out there and it figures he would be the one to break our bullpen's hitless streak in the playoffs.
I'd probably tolerate having Fields pitch in this bailout situation just to give the top relievers rest, but yeah, let's not fool around and seal the win in hand for the series-commanding lead.

first of all, yeah Stripling should not have been on the roster for NLCS even without Ryu being the replacement. I would have much rather have Pedro Baez ( contrary to popular opinion ) over Ross. of course Ryu, and even McCarthy.
secondly, if he was going to pitch in this series, I would have liked him throw 70% knuckle curve, not messing with his fastball which did him in.

It was Walker Buehler or Brandon McCarthy for me, but I understood Stripling being the long-man option. I just never felt good about it. However, I agree with you that he should be deploying his knuckle curve ball more instead of, like I said, throwing batting-practice fastballs out there to the Cubs' hitters.
