i dont buy it when he's using a crap form for his free throws

He's trying to reduce movement in his form, less is better.

Eventually, he'll find a comfortable rhythm, but it might take a while.

i guess, my only problem is that if that trash form is the form he's using to shoot free throws in practice, i'm sure he makes most of them. but then in real game settings, he bricks them. his free throw form is getting uglier and uglier.

It reminds me of when my golf coach started trying to rebuild my golf swing by getting me to start practising my irons by starting my shots at the top of my backswing (no bringing the club back). Worked for about 10 shots... and then it got into my head because I had no power on my shot and completely ruined my swing completely.

That's where Markelle seems to be right now. Like they'd told him to minimise the moving parts... but it is a mindf#@k

it's a freethrow shooting though. its different from shootin jumpers in live game action. you take your time and focus on your form. shouldn't matter how much moving parts you have on a free throw shot because it's all muscle memory and repitition. that's why i think its a shoulder issue.

His first jumper was weird looking, but the fadeaway looked like his normal shot. Confusing.

I saw a lot of good things from Fultz tonight....it was a promising debut considering he only played 18 mins. He looks comfortable driving to the basket, his defense is improving too. Those were areas of question heading into the season. I have no worry about his shot once his lingering shoulder injury disappears and he gets more comfortable. I even thought he looked explosive tonight driving the basket.

He still thinks the game too slow and hence the silly turnovers, but hopefully he cleans those up. Once he regains his jumper, his whole game will open up. Wishing that to be sooner than later for sure.

I think it will take some time for Fultz to fix all the weird stuff with his shot.
But he'll be fine. He looked good tonight. The talent is obviously there.

Surely, someone in the organisation has said to him; "whats going on with your changed jumpshot?" Is that too hard to ask.

I'm firmly in the "his shoulder is basically fine" camp. Saw him go through hard screens, contest shots with both arms and drive into contact without even wincing.

I believe the form change was a decision he made, not an injury compensation.

It’s the weirdest thing ever. When he plays he shoots normal. When he’s at the kind he shoots awkward. He was asked about that in camp and he said he was just experimenting. He needs to cut the crap and shoot normal again. Make Fultz great again.

Not off the Fultz train by any means, but I find it strange that we not only selected him, but traded up for him if he's going to be an off ball shooting guard every time he's on the court. I know it's one game, but he wasn't playing his natural position when Ben was sitting and McConnell was PG.

Not that I'm a fan of either of these guys, but if we wanted an off ball role player, Ball and Jackson were there. Or we could have just taken Mitchell at 3.

How long until Fultz is his normal shooting self again? He shot 3s in summer league and looked good and confident doing it. He’s not even thinking of shooting an outside shot which makes me furious.

Me too. I think that after he hurt his shoulder in the preseason that it turned into a plausible explanation for the form, but that it actually doesn't have anything to do with it.

The fact that he made that one scoring play last night with the rainbow pull up jumper shows to me that he is physically fine. That was an instinctual play. I think that he is up in his head now with his free throws, and wide open jumpers, and he just needs to break through it.

One of about 5 reasons trading up for him was ridiculous. But it made sense at the time, if you were of the mindset that Fultz was great and you didn't believe Simmons could possibly play PG full-time.

fultz needs to be the harden of the second unit. tj can be the 3rd pg off the bench. im fine with payless starting, for now.

Drafted a PnR guard to do nothing but spot up. I think Simmons not playing messed us up during the draft. Had no real direction of where we wanted to go because last years pick was such a question mark considering he didn't play. Looks like they just said F it draft the well rounded offensive player and go from there.
