Impressive beginning... Kershaw isn't perfect right now, but he's getting the job done at least.

Kershaw Elite Even If Not in Top Form

Yeah. Kershaw is pitching well with his fastball and curve ball, but I'm hearing that his slider is not sharp. I haven't noticed, but I'm curious what you guys think. Plus, there seems to be some concern with Kershaw possibly ailing a bit in this game after the Honeycutt visit to the mound.

I want by the beginning of 6th a lineup of

1. L CF Pederson
2. R 3B Farmer
3. L 1B Utley
4. L RF Ethier
5. R 2B Forsythe
6. R LF ****
7. R C Barnes
8. R SS Culberson

with Grandal as the last man on the bench in case.

and damn it Kris goes solo HR.

9-1. still nothing changes with the plan.
ehhhhh f it.

In typical Kershaw fashion, he gives up a HR ball to a struggling Kris Bryant.

I’m keeping my eye on him from this point on.

Yeah, but literally everyone is giving up homers now, and that would have been caught in just about any other park... Wind just barely got it over the fence.

Obviously with our Pen, we're watching... But I think Kershaw is good for at least 1 more.

didn't mean to sound like an ass, but to elaborate on what I meant, his break on the slider is still there, but the location is off and he isn't able to control and it is missing the target by nearly a foot. and the break is on a single plane with expected slow downward fall by gravity without more active vertical movement, unlike his usual slider that has both horizontal and vertical breaks.

Kershaw's Slider

No worries, Neddy. I'm usually not a good judge on pitches to begin with, but I wasn't watching every one of Kershaw's pitches as I'm multi-tasking a bit. Justin Russo was saying that his slider was flat for most of the night, which prompted my curiosity for other people's assessments.

Honestly, it's not just his slider... He's struggling a little bit placing all his pitches... I think he got some favorable calls on fastball strikes too.
Still though, when he's struggling, it's like a good night for a lot of starters...

Running the Mouths

Post#1360 » by Ranma » Fri Oct 20, 2017 1:54 am

I guess the Cubs had to get their swagger and smack talk out of the way as soon as they could given their struggles and deep down knowing that they would eventually be rolled over by the Dodgers. I mean why else would you say good luck to Kershaw or even that the series would be tied before we know it.
