I would also include Stauskas anderson or Okafor just to get the roster spot.
I was actually thinking of something about an hour based around Okafor and Saric and Ingram. It's really tough to evaluate Ingram IMO because it's pretty clear that just given him the ball and asking him to create is not a recipe for success (at least right now) but it feels like that's all the Lakers do.

Beverly was a tough matchup for Ball in his first game. It'll be interesting what Simmons can do with Beverly if Beverly covers him. Simmons can take him down in the post.
Ball reminds me of Toni Kukoc. Kukoc got so much hype coming out of Europe. MJ and Pippen played against Kukoc in the Olympics and just totally shut him down. Ball is going to have a rough beginning to his career.

Nope. I always thought Ingram was going to be a bust. These first 2300 minutes of his career have done nothing but validate my original feeling on him. You can't be unathletic and too skinny to function. It's an awful combination.
Good skill level, elite length, but he's ceiling was always mythical and unearned. He was "just a guy" at Duke, for the most part. Catch and shoot player that did no creating.
That Simmons vs Ingram debate over a year ago is funny to look back on. And Boston must be happy too because they have Brown who looks like he will be pretty good. He could always defend but now he has some scoring skills.
It was a debate right up to the second we got the 1st pick and then everyone on the forum knew the answer. Ingram's perceived ceiling went out the window once the rubber met the road.

Not exactly. More people wanted Simmons on here but it was still a debate. And other media people said they wanted Ingram over Simmons. I know off the top of my head Tim Legler and Barkley preferred Ingram.

Ingram can't create his own shots, but you would trade 2 guys that can.
Ingram should have a Trevor Ariza type career, which isn't bad.
If Amir plays poorly again, wouldn't it be better to keep Okafor?

The biggest violation that Lavar ever did, and the one that made me realize that he is just a bad dude, is when he criticized Lonzo's teammates at UCLA.
It is only a matter of time before he plays that card again in the pros. Maybe not a big enough reason to pass on him, but it certainly is a negative.
Didn't he say they had too many white guys? lmbo
Yes. Lol
These were teammates of Lonzo’s! Classless.

Yeah, it was a debate for a while there.

I was one of them. It's part of the reason why Jonathan Issac scared me in this draft. If you're not a killer on offense in college, I don't think it's ever going to happen. Ingram showed talent, but just hasn't adopted the necessary mentality. I was also freaked out about Simmons's shot, lack of left hand around the rim, lethargy on defense, and losing at that level. Some of those are still a large concern, but move like he does at that size with his ability to dribble is pretty insane. Ingram hasn't really shown anything special thus far.

I don't see the point in engaging with you so please know that I won't be responding anymore.

I wish I ended my thoughts on this subject on the first page. That take held up well. I devolved as thread grew.

"So if we take their production (which is nearly identical) aside, why is Okafor and Simmons not the same level of talent? I'm legitimately interested. Is it because Simmons is tall, can handle a basketball well, and can pass at a high level?
Okafor has the ability to eventually be a player that you can toss the ball to at 15-20ft out and he'll have a near 60% chance at scoring (if we are to believe that he's going to maintain, or even improve on, the level he was at before the injury). You know who would want that kind of talent? Everyone in the NBA."

To be fair, he was playing out of his mind at the time on offense. The Okafor we see today is not the same one. Well, same defense. But yea, not good.

Meh everyone has misses. I thought Rashad McCants would be a top 10 player in the league at some point.
Reading the rest of it though lol. If Okafor went as hard in the paint IRL as you did for him in that thread Jojo would be coming off the bench.

sixersftw wrote:Simmons. I don't give a F about fit because, unless you have a budding superstar, he is the kinda guy that makes every other player on your team an afterthought. I would still be ecstatic about Ingram, who's game I prefer aesthetically and pretty meh with Brown but there is upside there.
Jesus if Embiid is healthy and you can flip Ok4 for some perimeter help you'd be set. If not Ok4 and Nerlens are showing signs of meshing.
See your takes got worse post to post. My **** broke down in the 2nd paragraph. nailed it on the first though

Well at the time I think we were hyping him up as ROY. The numbers showed an inefficient post player, but there was a lot of promise based on his post moves. I was decidedly against him before his draft for reasons we're seeing now (slow, lumbering, we had enough bigs, sucked at defense). But I don't think anyone knew what was the long term plan when we drafted Jahlil, so I'd say it was more optimism that belief.
