Re: The Legend of Joel Embiid
I'm willing to write this off as a bad game. I'm expecting a big bounce back.

Re: The Legend of Joel Embiid
I did not like Embiid's post game comments AT ALL. He made it a point to say that he did not get the ball in the post that much and to me it was an attempt to deflect some blame as he said it like 5 times in a 15 second span. Sign of immaturity, and Embiid is definitely still immature. We all know how reacts when things are going good, but when things are bad is when your true character shows up. Let's hope, he is not another Donovan mcnabb, when the eagles were leading by two touchdowns, all he wanted to do was clown the whole game, but then when his teams were down, totally different person and body language.
Being even keeled is needed to be a good leader. Embiid is obviously talented, but it would have been so much better if he had said " I should have made a bigger effort to get down low in the post to make it easier on my teammates to find me down there". He made very little effort to get down low then he wants to complain that he didn't get the ball down low. He's better than that....

Why is that Embiid's fault? You dint think Brett is asking him to play that way?Sasashi wrote:I did not like Embiid's post game comments AT ALL. Re: The Legend of Joel Embiid
This obviously doesn’t actually matter, but anything for a player to reset mentally after some **** games is cool with me. Blame it on the rows.

We will never know for sure if it was Brett Brown's instructions but from his history of falling in love with guard play, I can't imagine where it was completely Brown's fault. That being said, it was even worse that he had to air dirty laundry to the press. He can choose his words better and say it in a different way than he did tonight. That's the main problem. Again, this is a sign of immaturity, and it is expected from a 23 yr old superstar.
Contrast that to Legarette Blount after the chiefs game where he didn't get ONE rushing attempt. Didn't say anything negativelyto the press. It's an unfair comparison because Blount is a 30 yr old vet used to winning championships, but what Embiid did post game was wrong and could have been handled better. Hope u're an eagles fan so u understand what I'm talking about.

Re: The Legend of Joel Embiid
You know what bothers me about these first 2 games is the seeming lack of camraderie and that used to be a mainstay of last years Sixers. Like when TJ hit the game winner and Embiid changed his profile pic. Again, only 2 games, but guys, including Embiid, don't look like they're playing for each other.
The Process is about togetherness and I have seen very little of that so far. Hopefully that's something they work towards building.
I'm about ready to give Justin Anderson 20 minutes tomorrow because he's the only guy consistently and genuinely cheering for anybody else.

Is it a coincidant that in the last couple years almost all of our youngsters (MCW Noel Okafor) set back in their second year under BB. Hope Joel wont be the next.

Think they just have to get some wins. Losing makes everybody disgruntled.

Re: The Legend of Joel Embiid
U guys think Biid is lethal at the post? He's better off as a face-up. In general, he's best as a second to third option unless there's a mismatch like Nets frontcourt. Best offense is generated off PnR and drive and draw.
His shooting and close out game is just horrible right now. And most of his shots are coming from them. I'd say its mostly tired legs and not being able to play much in offseason

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Re: The Legend of Joel Embiid
Its almost like he's rusty and unfit..... Nothing is wrong that a few weeks worth of games and continuity wont fix.
Worrying about anything other than health with Embiid is a waste of energy.

He’s gonna to need about 10 games to get back into playing shape. Agree. Those long three point shots are just off. No legs in those shots.
He’s got to stop those pump fakes from 3 point fake. No need. He’s got other guys who can do it and he can roll to the rim without the Balo.
Also. Like someone else stated. What’s working best is the 10-12 foot faceup away from rim. That’s the money spot for Him right now. Mid range.

Stop making excuses for Embiid. Being tired or out of shape doesn’t mean you just stand outside taking 3s. He’s not even trying to go down low. That’s not rust or being tired. That’s playing dumb basketball. We need to hold everyone accountable. If we bash players like Bayless for playing dumb then we need to do the same for our max contract player. I love the guy and know he’s a beast but I have to be honest. Rust and tired doesn’t mean playing dumb. That’s what Embiid has done too much off these two games.

I don't see fatigue or rust, I just see arrogance.

Not always. Embiid started the game on the outside. He wasn’t tired or rusty. Just dumb basketball.

He tweaked his ankle in preseason, he's probably holding back a little.
He's used to playing reckless, which makes him good, but injury prone.
He's struggling to find a good balance?
